Hi guys, Anyone experiencing this? At first, I thought it's just a diminished battery life but found out that the phone is not charging at all! I am sure that it is not with the battery as it is working before the upgrade. The phone is just 4mos old. I just did a clean restore and I am now able to charge. To recover may data, I resynced as "new iphone". Will observe if this did the trick. Google search gives the following: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2044005&start=0&tstart=0 http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=782432 Thanks, Adrian
Re: iPhone 3g stopped charging properly after 3.0 upgrade Experienced this as well. I let the phone cool off for a while. When I opened it again and tried to charge it, problem was solved. Don't know what happened..
Re: iPhone 3g stopped charging properly after 3.0 upgrade That seems to be the way to go (first). Hehe...
It happened to my iPod touch 1G. After the update, I used it for while. Then when battery was low I plugged it to my Mac. iTunes was open. It won't charge and iTunes cannot see the iPod. When I shut down iTunes, the iPod started charging. From then on it was ok.
I literally can see my battery drain. Within half a day , battery is dead. PUSH is already off. WIFI is off too... I'm not doing anything as I did a restart....
There seems to be a lot of complaints regarding battery issues in the apple support forum. At least I know I;m not the only one....
turn off MMS messaging and the wifi setting "ask to join networks" my battery now works like a charm hehe
I experience the battery drain after restoring to 3.0. After I set push to off and rebooted my iphone, the battery drain is apparently back to normal.
if you were to shut down almost all of its vital applications just to save battery life, then what would have the upgrade achieved at all? this is why up to now am still meandering into settling with my current os than upgrading eventually...
experienced this one too. My phone died due to very low bat power. tried turning it on and then I plugged it in to charge while apple logo was there. Thought it was charging as it normally would but when I checked after several minutes, at least 20 I guess, the charge indicator was still red. knew somthing was wrong so I did a reboot. Plugged the phone when it was already in the locked screen. My first time to encounter this.
Happened to me too. My phone's battery was low so I charged my phone. About 30 minutes later, I checked on my phone and it was so warm but was not charging until it finally died. Brought my phone to Globe and they were able to revive it. It is now charging properly. Update: My phone isn't charging again. Will bring it back to Globe tomorrow.
I think MMS isn't related to battery drains. Notifications and Push under Fetch New Data will make the drain stop. Be sure also to reboot after toggling those settings. This is also the remedy for the charging issues. If a 1st reboot didn't fixed it, try a second one. You can easily check it by putting it beside a conventional (not LCD) TV or a speaker and see if there's noise emitted. If there's none, then your battery is OK. If there is, leave it for about 3 minutes. If there's still noise, reboot again. Been fighting this issue for almost 2 months during the beta stages of 3.0.
Push seems to be the problem and disabling it solves the issue for most of the users. The reason why the battery is not charging is because of its temperature. I have read somewhere that iPhone has a mechanism that stops the battery from charging if its too hot. Some user were able to charge theirs by ventilating their unit (ie. electric fan). The weird thing is if you're not using push and you have this problem (as in my case). -Adrian
