Re: iPad warranty woes Stop fighting guys To put this to rest na , the iPad is not yet officially supported here in the Philippines, the iPad is not yet on GSX which is the system apple provided us to process warranty claims. Thanks
Re: iPad warranty woes Unfortunately, Roma Lestal, formerly in charge of the warranties / replacement section is no longer connected with Apple Sing. Sigh...
Re: iPad warranty woes this thread is so misleading though... i thought that there are complaints to actual ipad users and legitimate claims to warranty. kind of like the hinge problem with the macbooks not being covered by applecare ect.
Re: iPad warranty woes Yes, you are right. I concede the argument. Will you now relax? Again, I am wrong and I concede the argument. No way can Applecare Philippines nor the owner of an Authorized Apple Reseller and Authorized Apple Service Center with multiple branches be correct.
Re: iPad warranty woes Elbert I'm sorry that i have offended you. Did not mean to include the post Again i'm sorry and i can only hope that you accept my apology. RC
Again, a classic example of He said, She said. Unless you're a regular fourth in Texas Hold'em with Forstall, Schiller and Ive, or you clean the toilets in Steve's inner sanctum, one's statements regarding Apple policy is more likely an opinion, an interpretation or advice, or at best a conjecture. Saying you're right and everybody else wrong is, simply, brash, adventurous and foolhardy.
I've sold some iPads here(well not exactly at PhiMug). My contact says if the unit decided to breaks on its own, the 1 yr warranty that comes with the product can be used, just give it to any Apple store and they will fix it for you. However, I'm hopefull this is true, I'll let you know guys in the future.
I'm assuming that your contact is in the US, where that advice would be true. But Charlie, who owns the Digital Hub franchise of Authorized Apple Resellers/Service Centers says that the iPad is not currently supported here in the Philippines and the infrastructure to process warranty claims for the iPad isn't in place either (see post #21 of this thread). I'd take his word for it.
ok so we know if we bought an Ipad from the US and brought it here that there is no warranty but will warranty be accepted here once the Ipad will be internationally shipped? or do I need to get an Ipad officially released in the Philippines in order for me to avail of warranty locally?
Am not sure with the iPad but when my Macbook Air broke down even before it was officially released in Manila, Powermac actually obliged to see and fix my unit. It took them some time however, about a couple of weeks before they were able to fix it since they still have to ask their counterparts abroad. But then again, that was my experience with the Air.
No yet. Not until the iPad is released officially in Singapore. Ladies and gents, here's how it works: Warranty (AppleCare) coverage for Apple products is worldwide. Meaning to say, if you buy a product in Zimbabwe, you can claim warranty for it in Pakistan, provided that that specific product is officially available in Pakistan at that time you are claiming warranty. IOW, as far as the iPad goes, since it's currently available only in the US, you can claim warranty for it only in the US. Once it's available officially in Singapore, then you can claim warranty for it in Singapore even if you purchased it from the US. Let me know if that's still not a clear enough explanation.
