Almost bought an iPad Air 2 this December and I thankfully remembered that October 2015 was supposed to be announcement for the new iPad Air. Hoping to see it this early 2016!
Flurry Insights has sales percentage of new devices activated leading to Christmas 2013, 2014 and 2015. It appears that full-sized tablets like the Air are going out fashion. Consumers prefer phablets like the 6S Plus. Either that or people are not seeing the need to upgrade to the latest and greatest tablet as what they have is already good enough or people are settling on one device only. Expect a USB-C to Lightning when the iPad Air 3 comes out. This would have support for USB Power Delivery (15W-100W) for fast charging 2016 iPads and last year's iPad Pro. It would also have USB 3.1 Gen 1 (up to 5 Gbps) data transfers that would be more than 10x faster than USB 2. Imagine charge times of 60 mins for the 2015 iPhone 6S Plus instead of 165 mins. Backups and restores at a fraction of the time. Here's to hoping Apple decides to increase mAh capacity of their phones. I would love to have any iPhone with batteries north of 3,000mAh like say 6,000mAh? By comparison the 2015 iPhone 6s Plus has a 2,750 mAh battery, 2015 Macbook has a 5,263mAh battery the 2015 15-inch Macbook Pro has a 8600mAh battery, and the iPad Pro has a 10,307mAh one. This will make the phone thicker you say? So long as I get double or triple battery life I do not mind it being as thick as the 2007 iPhone (11.6mm) rather than that of the 2015 iPhone 6S Plus (7.3mm) and a weight of 300-400 (50-100% increase).
I still very much happy with my 14 month old iPad Air 2 but I would like to see what else can they improve
Based on this article, which also scoured the tech rumor mills: - There will be a March 14 event (or at least during that week) which will feature the iPad Air 3 (and the rumored smaller iPhone) - rear-facing LED flash - additional speaker grilles - There are also rumors of testing being done on the iPad Air 3 regarding Apple Pencil compatibility. ... which would mean more people wondering where the heck they can stow their Apple Pencils Source: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/apple-ipad-air-3-what-we-know-so-far/
I'm eagerly awaiting this. I'm so ready to finally upgrade from my iPad 2 I bought it at launch in 2011 and really love it up to now. The iPad Air 2 is still very tempting, esp. with the probable price drop once the Air 3 is out. But since I held out this long, I think I deserve to splurge again. I also use One Note, so the pencil compatibility will be welcome (so pricey though..).
i'm upgrading my ipad air to ipad air 3... i am not comfortable with the ipad pro thus i'm still okay with ipad air 3 or ipad pro mini if they call it that...
