Well it's because some users are not that techy wise or observant. Minor lags or stutter don't bother them I mean sometimes they don't even notice. I have this friend of mine who's telling me that his iPhone 5 still runs smoothly even after the iOS 9 update and when I asked him to show me it's in reduce motion lol and when I asked him to turn the reduce motion off, he was speechless.
^^ Probably subjective now with how 'smooth' you're expecting things. I have iPhone 5, 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 plus, iPad Mini and iPad 2. Of all of them only the iPad 2 is obviously not butter smooth because of it's older OS. On iOS8 and iOS9 UI sensitivity is the least of our worry - it just sort of works.
I'm glad things like that do not bother me. Sad to say that you seem to be in the minority and as such do not expect Apple to fix the issue. Of course you can let them know and there is always a chance that it gets fixed in a future update.
I have iphone 5 running in iOS 9.2 with reduce motion off and its very responsive to me faster than iOS8, IHMO. Although I don't use it heavily now unlike my 6s+ but I'm happy to say that i'm impressed with 9.3 performance on my 6s+ even though its still in beta stage.
Funny because I was under the impression I am being called "not that techy or observant" Let's put aside the fact that as a lead mobile and online banking qa tester, I deal with tons of mobile devices in everyday use ranging from iPhone 4 running iOS8 up to the iPHone 6S plus running the latest 9.2.1. As a pretty scrutinous normal guy, I don't see any of them "lag" after updating to iOS9 (those older devices). If anybody in this forum deals with more iPhones (iPads including) on a daily basis to test performance, responsiveness, usability, user-friendliness and other functional aspects, that'd be me. Sorry if I sounded forward, I just need to prove where I'm coming from.
I guess it just shows that when you use ios and ios-powered devices, one always expect smoothness and fluidity in all aspects of the os, even if you are running it on an aging hardware. Compared to those who use android and are used to the sluggishness and slowdown existing in that os. So much so that they run some sort of app to free resources, cache and whatnot. I always tell my OC gf, whenever I see her closing all the apps from the app switcher, that she should only close the apps that are persistently using gps like waze when she doesn't need it to run, as ios is intelligent enough to manage the resources by itself. Anyhoo, the one persistent issue that I have been encountering since the 9.0 betas until now, is that after a prolonged use, ios will be skipping animations, in showing the contents of the folders, rotating the screen, etc. It happens with reduced motion turned off. I have to reset the phone to fix that issue.
Maybe because my phone was way better in iOS 8.0.4. and as I've said my phone was no match compared to iPhone 5s running on iOS 8.0.4
this public beta saved my two backup iphones (4s and 6), which just couldn't connect to wifi despite several restores at 9.2.1. moving up to 9.3 brought the wifi back
Yes, I agree on all points. I also experience the "skipping animations" issue from time to time on non-beta iterations of iOS with incidents reducing in number as new updates come along. I hope 9.3 will completely eliminate the issue.
Just be cautious & maybe wait for the next update if you have an Apple Watch. There were reports of some issues in notifications in AW when you update your iPhone to iOS 9.3 Beta 4. Check the Macrumors Forum below for the issues posted by many. http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/apple-seeds-fourth-ios-9-3-beta-to-public-beta-testers.1957850/
iOS 9.3 beta 5 has just been released. Seems like the AW notification bug has been fixed already. It was reported that this is the GM already, ready for the new iOS devices rumored to be announced in the 3rd week of March.
so i still love my 5S running the original ios version 7.0.3... my problem now is that the screen size is always cropped.. that's all. Question: Do you advice i update to v 9.3?
