SMS is failing. We got the unit today in Globe. Hmmm.. Haven't checked solutions here yet.. Is there? :)

Upgraded my Globe 4S to the new buld 5.01 (9B406) and so far so good.
Also didn't notice anything wrong with the older build (4B405).

Went to globe today and we found out that iPhone 4s 5.0.1 works fine on 128k sim, it seems. It's just a quick test.

    5.01 (9B405) for Globe.
I would guess the same for Smart.

Lost my signal on 5.01 (4S) an hour ago and no matter how many times I restart the phone, it won't come back.

Then I remembered that along with my 'loyalty' 4S, they gave me a new microsim. I asked the CSR at the Globe Business Center last night if I can use my existing microsim and she said "Yes sir, just keep the new sim as a backup sim. If you want to activate it, just call 211".

So I popped in the new sim and voila! 5 bars. Sheesh. I never called them to have the new sim activated. :(

do you mean you the old sim not working on your globe 4s when you upgraded it to 5.0.1?

then after inserting the new sim with the 4s (5.0.1 update) everything came back to normal?

can you tell us what your old sim and new sim is? any difference?

because i have factory unlocked 4s from canada using with SUN, the package came with a 5.0 firmware and everything was normal, no jb and no apps, just using it for about a week then i decided to upgrade to 5.0.1 via wifi with my SUN sim inserted, then after the reboot, there it is.. no service. so i tried to reset the phone, restore the phone, re-inserted the SUN sim then i got full useless signal because even with full signal sometimes even 3g, i cant make or receive calls or texts, then after a few minutes, no service again... until now..

please tell us about your sim, maybe i could help

    thanks!

What I'm saying is that Globe disabled my old microsim and activated the new one. That is why I got a 'no service' issue on the old sim. Nothing to do with the fw version.

I've seen some reports that you have to use a 128K microsim to avoid the 'no service' issue on the 4S.

Download the revised 5.0.1 fw and restore to that to fix your no seevice issue.

It won't appear if you're already in 5.0.1.
