    Genuine question, you guys are using Google photos instead of the native iOS photos app?

    Thanks! I was just wondering since I just recently shifted from an android system and was hoping that I can still somehow try to retain and keep on using Google photos. Unfortunately it doesn’t work as well as I wanted it too on iOS and I ended up subscribing to iCloud instead.

    Major hassle migrating all my photos from goole photos to iCloud Photos

    Totally agree, I know of a way to migrate from Photos (Mac) to Google Photos but not the other way around

    Anyone recently updated to iOS 16.3 or 16.3.1 encountering issues with notifications?

    For example, I need to open the Viber/WA/Telegram or Gmail app before the messages starts coming in for those apps and needs to stay open otherwise they don't arrive at all. iMessage and SMS seems fine.

    None here. Is the background refresh turned on for these apps?

    I checked r****t and Apple support forums, and it looks like some also are experiencing this issue. I'm gonna try to contact Apple directly regarding this.

    I always enable Background App Refresh for all essential apps I use (banking, messaging, MFA, 1PW, etc.). It's the first major issue I encountered since I think iOS 11 was released. It's pretty bad if there are no notifications for your messaging apps. *sigh*

    Thanks for chiming in though.

    Sad to hear that. Thankfully everything on my end is ok at 16.3.1

    Breakdown of what is working and not for my iPhone:

    Working normally:
    * WhatsApp
    * iMessage
    * SMS

    Partially working:
    * Telegram - App needs to be opened first. Succeeding messages are received without any popup notification banner, but the app badge number increments (weird).
    * Viber - App needs to be opened all the time to receive messages and notifications. Viber call works. No badge count on missed calls though.

    Not working:
    * Gmail

    Testing parameters:
    * iPhone 11 iOS 16.3/16.3.1.
    * Background App Refresh turned on - for WiFi and Cellular Data.
    * App notifications turned on for all apps.
    * Done a regular reboot and force reboot, still not working.

    To do:
    * Reinstall the problematic apps and check if it works again.

    Contacted Apple support chat earlier. Very responsive but in the end, suggests to me to contact each app developer regarding this issue. *sigh*

    Update:

    It looks like my Viber notifications are now working again just now. Yeah!

    I reinstalled the app yesterday, but still didn't work. I reported again the same day to Viber support, I don't know if they did something on their backend. But hey, it works now!

    Gmail still not working though and I just found out that notifications on my Microsoft Authenticator is also not working.

    Update 2:
    Reinstalled Telegram and Gmail. My notifications are now working for both apps. It looks like reinstalling works.

    PSA: Just wanna share this WSJ video on why everyone should protect the secrecy of their iPhone 6-digit PIN at all cost, especially when in public.
