You could try either Boot Camp or Parallels. I'm sure there are other apps but never tried either one since I have a separate Mac and Windows machine. Boot Camp assistant is built in the OS 10.5 and up I think. Parallels is a paid application.

Virtualbox is free but you will need a licensed copy of windows xp or window 7 also.

I'd definitely recommend Parallels if you prefer virtual machine and don't rely much on Windows. The feature "coherence mode" lets you use your Windows applications on a Mac environment. Pretty cool if you need access to both. I only use Windows for work.

I used Boot Camp Assistant (part of OS X). I dual boot Win 7 and OS X.

    My setup:

    OS X
Paragon NTFS (so Mac can read and write on Window's ntfs format drive)

    Win 7 Pro
Macdrive (so Windows 7 can read and write on OS X's hfs+ format drive)

If Boot Camp fails it means your hard disk is fragmented. Apple recommends reinstalling OS X and your data and trying again. I used iDefrag.

Paragon NTFS, MacDrive, and iDefrag are paid apps. Paragon and MacDrive are optional.

you can access the USB drives via Parallels. No need to dual boot.

Windows will process viruses even on a Mac. The Apple hardware will not protect you. Yes you will need to behave with caution using windows. Yes you will need to get an antivirus.

Sorry but what does this mean? If I caught a virus while using the OS X platform, if I open my WIndows platform through Parallels, will my computer get infected?

Or will my computer be attacked if I surf using my Windows platform?

Sorry if this has been answered before....
