http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXbBA1DRE84&feature=player_embedded This will be my most used gadget if ever i get my hands on this!!!! Wooot!!!!!
Oh boy I'm excited for this too! Here are more detail from Macworld: http://www.macworld.com/article/162046/2011/08/digitally_sketch_on_paper_with_wacom_inkling.html I'm looking forward to reading the reviews! I hope they work as well as they advertise it! According to Wacom's website, it will be available mid September!
Wow. Its like a portable scanner but scans in vector files. Thats really neat! This is going to be the perfect device for people who can't seem to adjust to a tablet's "unnatural" feel.
I can imagine if you wish to make a big poster size art you can always draw several composite images and put them together in photoshop or illustrator. Also for big continuous drawings you can always resize your sketch because it outputs in vector images. Lots of workarounds if you are creative enough.
because of the ballpoint size (1mm) of the pen, you are limited to do details on the size of A4. Even though I'm not creative enough to do the work around it would still help if it's a little bigger for most not creative enough.
^ After drawing your sketch, you can/should manipulate it (color, outline, etc.) on your preferred graphic software then scale it to your desired size for output. Remember, it's in vector.
this is sooooo coool! imagine those sketches on a moleskine notebook being transferred digitally na. definitely want one!
I want one too! but right now, i have not so much use for it..lol one question though: seeing on the video that it has ink(?), what if it runs out?
No, you're not limited to the paper size, technically. But yes, it can only record pen input from within an A4 area. I guess that means that if you draw on a paper larger than A4, say an A3, then simply clip the receiver on the first half, then move it on to the other half as your drawing spills to it. You don't have to break your stroke as you do this. By using layers, it should be easy enough to "stitch" them together in your graphic software. I wonder what "ink" it'll use, or if there's an option to use lead instead of ink. In any case, I'm still very much excited about this.
if this works as well as advertised, this will be huuge. btw, question to Moleskine users - what is the, and im just curious, "appeal" or benefits of using moleskine notebooks ? ive heard of it for years, and havent gotten around to buying one, but im very curious as to Why its so popular ?
Partly because of the deep history of the brand and partly it is just really nice quality notebook. Its quite expensive for a notebook though so its not for everyone.
I tweeted about this to my delight. Can’t wait to have this; an addition to my Wacom system + Mac for creative+photography stuff.
This could be the only limitation I could see but who knows, if the device is successful enough Wacom can add other types of ballpoints and brushes. I'm a doodler myself so this is quite great toy to play with. Much more natural then a bamboo or intuos. Can't wait for it to hit the market and read the reviews!
