Hello, i'm a 2 week mac user and i'm having problems with imovie (version 7.0).

it's the only ilife app that won't launch with an error "You cannot use this version of the application iMovie with this version of Mac OS X."

My OS X is version 10.5.4 and my system is MBP 2.4ghz.

I tried downloading and running the iMovie upgrades but they won't proceed either saying that "an eligible iMovie app is not installed or something".

    Can anyone help please? :(

    Thanks in advance.

trash it and reinstall using your installer disc. there may be a way to correct this without re-installing but i personally find re-installing less of a hassle. had similar issue with iDVD before. hth.

In addition to what Theus suggested, run Software Update after reinstalling iMovie to get the latest patch.

thank you for the suggestions. this lead me to the solution and the cause of the problem.

the reason why ilife updates were not reaching my system was because i placed the apps in a subfolder under applications and not just in applications.

now all my ilife apps are updated and working.

    thanks again theus and quasar!

now i just have to figure if my application folder structure is correct (due to my oc'ness, i created subfolders for apps not in the standard OS install).
