    hi everyone,

i have a concern with my imovie. whenever i import a video clip from my sony handycam the video quality degrades. is there something i can do to improve the quality of the imported clips?

i wanted to check if the issue was with my handycam. i copied the same .mpg (the handycam is hd based) clips from the handycam's harddrive directly to the mac using finder and the video quality was very good as compared to the same imported ones.

can anyone help me with this? thanks for your help in advance!

Can you post the handycam model name. So that the people here can check the specs.

open the mpg file then press apple+i. post the result here so that we can check what's wrong

hmm...strange. i wonder if the unit comes with drivers (yeah as in Windows) for it to function properly when doing imports. please check. otherwise, stick to just copying straight from the camcorder to your mac and then do the import on iMovie.
