Image Rip app

    hi guys! i was wondering if there is an app available that can let me copy dvds to an image file in the hard drive (eg. tiger os install disc to image file on hdd). is mactheripper or handbrake capable? or are they usefull only for movie dvds? thanks in advance!

    You can make an image copy of the OS Install discs via Disk Utility to a hard drive. If your intent is to have the Install disc backed up by this method, then you're set. After creating the image file, you can also use Disk Utility to burn the image file to a DVD disc if you need it.

    If your intent is to have the Install disc image on a hard drive and be able to do an Install from the hard drive, then there's a little bit of work. Check this how-to from OS X Hints. I've done this with 10.3 and 10.4 and it works great. Haven't done Leopard, but I plan to.
