That ain't really wishful thinking. i5 on the base Mac Mini might not be far off given the recent refresh on the MBP line where the base 13" got the i5.

Actually got my money on the base Mini having the i5 on the oncoming refresh; same as in the iMac. Just saying.

Hmm I've noticed that the Mac Mini follows the specs of the white Macbook more closely then the entry level Macbook Pro so if the white unibody gets the i5 treatment, our beloved Mini is not far behind.

true, the specs of the mac mini is almost the same as the macbook white so its basically a laptop not a desktop

How much is the entry level iMac (smallest screen available).

I am planning to replace my MB with an iMac instead now that I have an office issued laptop. My MB just sits at a table in the house. IMO I am better off with an iMac than a MB/desktop...hehehe.

MacMini + 32" LED Monitor (120Hz) = price of an entry level iMac :)

If I were to choose between an iMac and a Mac Mini, I'd go hands down and feet up for the iMac since I don't want to deal with the hassles of buying lots of peripherals, so and so.

Basically, I'd want a simple and unified experience.

    So there, iMac.

    But that's just me. :)

considering price, best to go with the iMac..

to be truthfully honest if you add up the apple keayboard and mouse and a new 22" led monitor ...... hindi na sobra layo cost difference of Imac and Mac mini ..... just assume the cost difference is the processing power and memory ....

when i was doing the math earlier, it got me thinking an imac 22" would be more cost effective .... in my humble opinion

To get the same quality third party monitor as the iMac is EXPENSIVE. You're better off going for the iMac.

I have a 2007 iMac 24" and a new Samsung BX2250. My iMac's LCD is still produces better images despite being 4 years old. And the BX is supposedly the best LED monitor to date.

nothing beats lying in a couch in front of a 42-50 inch led/plasma with no desktop on sight. just your keyboard and magic trackpad on your lap. mini it is.

Good news! LG just came out with the IPS236 monitor for less than 11k. It's as wonderful as the iMac's display, but without the dust problem and the high price.

    Vibrant and accurate colors!

Want one? Contact Foxcom in Gilmore where I bought mine. They are one of the few stores that carry it. It's not available in Megamall last week.

Stay away from Samsung displays. Even the top of the line is no match to this.

How much did the upgrade cost? I'm hoping to buy the new Mini before the year ends.
