Hi Muggers, Been trying to videoconference on iChat and I cannot seem to connect. On my side I am using an iSight on my 667 TiBook and with Globe DSL speed checked at that time was 400+ Kbps. On my Mac Gurujji's side, he is using a Sony Digi 8 camcorder connected to his PowerMac QuickSilver G4 800 and he is on myDSL and his speed at that time was 700+ Kbps. He appears on my buddy list with a video icon and all, we can type chat no problem and we can 2 way audio chat, but when we try the video, we can never connect. Tried downgrading the speed to 100 only on both sides, ... nada. This isn't a PLDT vs. Globe thing ?? I know one thing, if you use the bandwidth meter of Globequest (http://utilities.globequest.com.ph/) and measure a myDSL line, the results are ALWAYS really low & slow. Oh well, are we forgetting/missing something ? [Edited on 3-2-05 by El CaMOTe]
hi am having problems with isight. im trying to have a video conference with my brother but it seems that we cant connect to each other. we could chat but it seems audio or video chat is not working. Im currently connected through wifi in my home. Is it a connection problem? The isight seems to be working since i can see myself. Another thing i noticed is that it seems to take a very long time for us to connect when one of us invites another. We would get the invite, accept it but then the connecting status just kept on showing. Is pldt mydsl doing something to prevent us from video conferencing? or im just being paranoid? any help would be great! [Edited on 5-8-2005 by Jumbo]
I've experienced problems lately as well. I was using iChat to video conference with my brother-in-law and although there was a video feed I didn't have any audio. I couldn't hear him and he couldn't hear me. I checked all the settings and everything seemed to be ok. My brother-in-law was using an AOL account and I was using a .mac account.
No problems here. I've been two-way video and audio chatting on iChat for the past week. I'm on Eastern EvO DSL and the people I chat with are abroad.
hey cool, i always thought that the mac reporter was some sort of automated news gathering program that works like rss or something similar. didnt realize that there was an actual person behind it. to whoever you are, thanks for all your hard work posting the news!
during the tiger meet, i heard of a "special" requirement on videoconferencing with iChat... am still trying to recall it... :uh-oh:
Me! Me!!! Is it that the host needs to be at least a G5 and the ones joining the multiple conference have to be at least G4s? Tama ba recitation ko?
I think the problem with my ichat lies with the incompatibility of ichat v2.1 and ichatv3(tiger). I was able to do a one-way video chat with a cousin of mine but failed to have a conference with my bro since he has tiger. bad trip. [Edited on 5-14-2005 by Jumbo]
I am also experiencing some problems with iChat when connecting with Hacksaw but my connection appears to be alright with the other Muggers. After the Tiger meet, we brought this subject up and was advised that all ports should be open. How to open up all the ports, maybe we can get advise from the Philmuggers.
Hi guys! Im trying for a looong time to get to video chat with my bro in san francisco. We used to do this prior to tiger but when we installed tiger we couldn't get it to work. iChat always mentions (me) did not respond when he invites me and (bro) did not respond when i invite him. I currently have a 1.33hgz 15"powerbook with 768 ram. I use isight, and connected to the net by a Dlink DI-514 router (2.4ghz) and has a speedtouch 530 thomson modem, i currently reside in the philippines and is using PLDT mydsl as my ISP. his specs are pb g4 1.33ghz w/ 1 gig ram and also uses isight. adsl SBC-yahoo dsl using d-link dl-524 router, san francisco california. Our routers are hard-wired to a pc and we use our laptops to connect to the routers. We are also both running on the latest build but alas the problem still persists. I have already opened my ports and took out the firewall but still the problem persists. Any help will really be appreciated! Thanks Can anyone also tell me how to open up the ports? I cant find the website which i followed last time.
Does anyone have a Speedtouch 530 modem from pldt mydsl? Anyone know what the default username/password for it? Im trying to get into the modem since that maybe the cause of the problem with my ichat. Any help is highly appreciated.
i'm using ichat video every day my dsl provider is pldt my os is tiger. I have no problem regarding ichat. Pldt usually provides you with the username and password try giving them a call 171. Either you're running tiger or panther it should have no problem. My chatmate is using panther with an ibook G4 800mhz. No need to have a G5 unless you have multiple video chats
I'm also experiencing a similar problem while trying to chat with my brother in LA. We always get an "insufficient bandwidth" notice. But I'm on PLDT MyDSL 768 and he's on Verizon DSL as well. We used to be able to chat when we were both under Panther. But here's the funny thing, his friend is running Tiger in SF and they're able to chat. My sister is running Panther on her iBook is also able to audio chat with him. Something wrong using audio chat across continents?
Have no problem with iChat, both video and audio. I've tried hosting/participating in an audio conference for 4 and was able to participate in a 3-way video conference ( I don't have an iSight though...I can see them but they can't see me... Reception has always been very clear even though the people I chat with are from abroad: 1 from the US, 1 from Canada and the other from Australia. I have a G4 iBook running on Tiger and my friends either have a G4 or a G5, all running on Tiger. PLDT mydsl is my ISP. I'm not sure if this helps, but I only keep 2 or 3 applications running when I'm conferencing. [Edited on 7.23.05 by Jo-Ann]
Just contacted mydsl support and sadly they wouldnt give me access to the modem's username and password. They won't even send a technician since technically i'm still able to surf, dload etc. This is really frustrating. Any one know how to get through it? :upset::upset:
It hit me suddenly what my username and password is. Got into the modem and followed the instructions from this website: http://discusssearch.info.apple.com/[email protected]@.68b37c33 then BAM! i can connect with the apple ichat test accounts. whoopee doo!
I searched all the iChat threads and thought that this might be the best place to put this. Anyway, I just wanted to share that I've been able to do video one on one using ichat with a mac account while my video conf party used windows xp and an aim account. The video was pretty clear although my conf party's video was just slightly slow. nevertheless, it was not bad. I still haven't seen anyone sharing that they were able to do this. Most people have been talking about video conf on a mac to mac basis. This is the first time i've been able to do this. I'm using a pbook with tiger while my video conf party was just on an xp laptop. Just wanted to share this. Hope it helps.
