how do i deactivate it? it just says it's read only though i dunno how that happened. i sync my pb with my treo occasionally and sometimes i input stuff in my ical, to my surprise it sometimes says its read only. how can i deactivate the read only without rebooting? thanks ina advance.
try a "get info" on the file and go down to where it says "ownership & permissions"; in "details", the owner should be you (or whatever your login name is); click on the lock amd enter your password if it isn't you. you should then be able to read & write.
well, when i did that to my system and did a permissions repair, OS X reverted ownership to "system", although it says i can "read & write"; but try it anyway, you won't lose anything (like data).
actually that's what happened. i just changed ownership to my login name and it works fine. though i keep redoing it after i reboot or repair permissions. weird, never happend before.thanks again penmanila.
good thing i found this old thread. i'm having a similar problem, my 'birthdays' calendar showed up as read only though i can't recall configuring it this way. i did what penmanila advised but it won't work. is there any other way for me to get around this issue? TIA
