i'd just like to share this little gem i found...

having been terribly frustrated with the disturbingly recurring hdd failure on my wife's macbook hdd, i did a quick search for a simple to use backup/restore application that she can use to backup over our home network. best option i've found was this...

iBackup is a simple little FREE (for non-commercial use) backup/restore application
for the mac... i've set our up to backup to our home nas with daily and weekly backup sets... so far as i've discovered, it can:
    - automatically connect then attach the nas box,
    - load up my wife's file area,
    - do a complete backup on the 1st run
    - rsync on succeeding runs to backup only changed files
    - for the weekly backup set, it's configured to create a whole new date-named backup set
