i'm trying to create a webpage using i-Web.
the app launched/opened but i can't use any of the features/options.
tabs, buttons are disabled (light gray).

    am i missing something?
do i have to register to .Mac before i can use this app?

latest update/version is installed on my macbook.

    thanks!

after you launch iWeb, you should get a window asking you to select a page template.. did you get something like that?

afaik, you don't have to have a .Mac account to use iWeb, but i think you'll need it if you want to publish the page/site you made online..

    try deleting plist:

    YourHardDrive/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWeb.plist

    and re-launch iWeb.

if that doesn't help, you may need to trash the whole iWeb app then re-install from your CD/DVD installer. goodluck :)

michaelkenji is right, .Mac account not needed to use iWeb (but that's kind of defeating the purpose :) unless you want to publish to a folder then upload to an ftp)

i dont get that window asking for a template.
    i can't even click the "+" sign to add/open a template.
almost all buttons of i-Web are disabled...:(

    ill try the work-around.
hope i'll be able to use this i-Web.

    tnx again!:)

You definitely don't need a .Mac account to use iWeb. My wife has used iWeb to create a site hosted on GoDaddy.com. Works great.

BTW, I changed the thread title to "How to start using iWeb?" because it's iWeb, not i-Web :)

i don't think you can directly. you will have to publish to a folder first then manually upload from there.

Theus is right. From within iWeb, you publish your site to a folder then upload the whole contents of that folder to your hosting account via FTP. My wife uses Yummy FTP because it can synchronize the local and remote folders so it just transmits the changes, it also seems to perform better than Transmit.
