i use textedit to jot down notes. i found an append feature in quicksilver that allows for text to be appended to existing files without opening them, a useful feature for all sorts of lists. thing is i also realized that textedit does not save to the .txt format just the rtf which isnt supported by the append feature. i am currently downloading text wrangler but would appreciate it if there was a way to do it in text edit so i wouldnt need another app. also, while were are it, is there a way to strikethrough and highlight in text edit? i would like it all in one coz i like the cut and paste feature of .rtf allowing me to paste in images and website content. and i prefer a light easy to open app to circus ponies notebook and sticky brain which i have tried and find cumbersome. if all this is doable in text wrangler, then scratch this, im switching to that one completely. unless that is you guys can recommend something even better.
You might wish to consider MacJournal and SideNote. I have both open all the time for all sorts of notes, reminders, lists, research and other stuff.
Save as .txt: Format menu > Make Plain Text Strikethrough: Format menu > Font > Show Fonts > Text Strikethrough HIghlight color: Format menu > Font > Show Fonts > Text Color
thanks dominique and marvin. im trying out sidenote. and knocking myself in the head for not finding marvin's answer myself. added: i quickly took sidenote off. i dont like my notes that easily accessible to anyone who happens by my 'book. another thing is that it doesnt save to an individual file. it is extremely quick to access and very responsive though. i'm sticking with text edit.
