Is there a way to play/run .exe files (windows compatible) using my 'book? (aside from virtual pc)

I just have these programs for work/training that are .exe files.

    Thanks.

There is no way aside from using virtual machine-type applications, like Virtual PC or Guest PC.

Depends, which Windows apps do you need to run?

its better to get a real pc to do real pc work... like games. even with a high-end mac and oodles of memory, emulation is comparable to a mid-range pentium 2.

Then I think you'll be ok using a virtual PC application for your Windows needs. That way, you don't have to spend time maintaining a separate PC.

I believe it is only through Virtual PC where you can open or run .exe files.

another alternative is if you have an windows XP Pro PC at work or at home, you can just connect to it using Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection. and then run your .exe file.

Doesn't Virtual PC require you to run a genuine windows OS or else it shuts down VPC?

If you .EXE applications don't require Windows (i.e., it's an entirely DOS-based app like some games circa '95) then you might be able to get away with just using DOSBox.

Re: how to open/launch an .exe file???

Expect a "this has been discussed before" from the moderators soon but anyway a quick answer to your question: .exe files are binary files explicitly for the Win32 platform or for Windows only. If you read the requirements of Blogger for Word, it says it requires Windows XP or 2000 :)

Searching ".exe" would eventually lead you here.

.exe files don't run in Mac OS X... you'll need Windows for that, put a shortcut of the item in the Startup folder.
