How do I export an avi file to mpg? With Quicktime 6 Pro, I had no problem doing that. But now with Quicktime 7 Pro, there is only avi to mpg4 option. Exporting to mpg4 seems to take longer and the output is not as good as mpg, even if I choose the best options under mpg4. Are mpg and mpg4 just the same? Am I doing something wrong? One more thing, when trying to burn the mpg4 file to VCD thru Toast 7, the encoding takes just as long as exporting before it writes unlike the mpg file that it starts writing right away. Thanks.

Use ffmpegX. Target format = VCD mpeg2enc (MPEG-1).

MPEG-1 is not the same as MPEG-4. If you're burning to VCDs, you need to encode to MPEG-1. Hope this helps.

Do you mean TMPGEnc? This is for Windows only.
