I find my Mac speaker volume too soft and I think this is related to iTunes. The music is louder when I play the same files on VLC. I already tried using volume adjustment in iTunes but I am not satisfied. Is there a setting somewhere else that I can adjust? I don't have problems with "ahem" mp3s because I can use other players with it. My problem are the mp3s that I bought in iTunes.

under preferences , click playback > uncheck soundcheck > slide sound enhancer to high. Short of that, get an external speaker.

Bro, can you try adjusting the equalizer? I usually thinker with it since I don't really like the default one.

But I don't think it'll reflect too much on the volume but improve sound quality.

Hmmm, I don't really have an issue with the volume on my iTunes. But VLC does play a bit louder than iTunes.

Also try to check your preferences. Under PLayback: sound enhancer and sound check.
