How do I convert mp3\'s into lower bit rates

Am thinking of transferring mp3's from iTunes to my Nokia 7610 to be used as ringtones. What is the easiest way of converting the mp3's from a higher to a lower bit rate?

    How do I convert AAC\'s into MP3\'s?

Follow-up question: How do I export AAC's opened using Quicktime to MP3's? The export window doesn't seem to list export as MP3.

    alfiesy,

In the preferences, under the importing tab, set it to whatever you wish, say mp3 16kbps. Then control-click the track you want to convert and you'll see an option to "convert selection to mp3".

    Same with your second question.

    What Ken said.

However, iTunes won't allow you to convert encrypted AAC files (bought from the iTMS, etc.) to MP3 files. If you encounter this situation, what you need to do is burn the AAC files to audio CD first then re-encode the audio CD tracks to MP3s.
