decyph3r already mentioned the threads , go take a look. DJ cans are different from your average listening cans and from your monitoring or serious listening cans. Closed cans are also different from the open cans, you'll get to read about them at the threads.. first question, what is your budget? if you are willing to spend on a px200i i suggest auditioning another pair. At its price i wouldnt recommend it, the px100( "i" or old version) is better. The akg you want is a closed can so it will sound different from the koss porta pro and px 100 as these are open headphones. Sound will leak in and out, so use it carefully in a public place. the px100, although cheaper than the px200, is far superior in sound quality and i would recommend it to you and you can save your money. the koss porta pro is about the same line as the px100... so ditch the px200 and get the px100(i) or koss porta pro if the budget allows......if you have more to spare, try auditioning other phones about that akg, ive auditioned them before and they are not for my taste , others would like it. as for beats, i don't blame people for getting them, they are decent and look very nice, but for an audiophile its price wont correlate with the quality its supposed to have......so its up to you to decide... try auditioning other akg models....as the 518 is still outperformed by the px100 (i or not) so you get to save even more money, at that 518's price you can get better cans, i know this because i've used both.....i even amped it up and used a DAC just to test it *******i realized that you have already purchased it so, if you get tired of the 518, read through and audition other cans..people here provide good feedback
nice choice bro! you can't go wrong with the AKG k518, its a little bit pricey compared with the px100 (second gen) but its definitely better, especially if you are the type of person who doesnt want your music to leak and don't want to hear outside noise too... i have both px100 and the akg k81 (same as your 518) and let's just say the px100 is gathering dust (no offense to px100 owners, it is a great headphone, just not better than the akg, at least by my taste)... recently had my akg k81 recabled and it brought out the midrange even more and tightened the bass
^had it made from a recommended guy at a local headphone forum, I saw his previous works and was impressed, will PM you the details. You wouldnt regret it bro, its like giving the AKG k81 another dimension. Before its main strength was the bass, now its more balanced (the thumping bass is still there, just more controlled and less boomy). I wasnt after the higher SQ actually, and the cable was also fine despite always being on the go... its just that it was very long and quite thin that it gets tangled easily
thanks! it really was a good choice for me. so much so that my mom got two more akg's when she went to Germany (cheaper daw dun by P2k) for my siblings. akala ko pa naman tuloy unique ako Kindly pm to me where you had your akg recabled and girl po ako XD
