I've searched the forums for the same problem, but to no avail. I hope you guys can help me.

My headphone jack on my Macbook Aluminum 2.0 with 10.5.7 suddenly is blocked! I can't fully insert my headphones into the jack. :( I already tried slowly wiggling the plug to "un-block" but no help. I tried to slightly forcibly push the the headphones into the jack and still unsuccessful. :(

Is there an auto-block feature in Macbook headphone jacks that I don't know? :( Please help.

Seems like something loose might be blocking it OR your headphone plug might be bent a little? Have you tried other headphones?

Checked my headphones, they're 100% okay. Whole and undented. I tried to restart, but again, it's still blocked. The last I used it was yesterday watching a DVD movie and that's it. I don't remember unplugging it yesterday in a forceful way. :(

Tried to search Apple discussion forums, but they don't have a similar problem with a Macbook. Just with iPhones.

Umm....I guess your case is an isolated one. Maybe it would be best to take it to where you bought it and have it fixed under repair...Im guessing there is something inside that came loose that is blocking the plug from being inserted fully.

headphone jacks are half mechanical and half electrical. in your case i guess it's the mechanical side that has a problem. maybe one of the sensors has broken loose and have caused the block since you can't fully insert your headphone anymore. best way is to bring it to an apple service center and have the jack repaired/replaced (most probably) there.

@d0natell0, yeah, just called the service center. Ugh.

Funny y'all, my speaker sounds like I'm just listening through my headphones! :O What the? It sounds like I'm listening to my phone FM radio on speaker! :S

Seems like something came loose inside your headphone jack socket and shorting out the left and right channels that's why your getting a funny sound. Either that or something really small has lodged itself in there.

I don't think there's a DIY fixer upper for that unless you want to open up your Mac yourself

This is a job for the professionals :)

Question: is there a red light coming out of the headphone jack? (i.e. is the optical connection running)
