Hey guys! I went to Powermac Center yesterday and saw that they have new cases for the Macbook Aluminum. Would you recommend that I get one? If so, which one would be the best choice among these: 1:Macally Leather Protective Shell - for 13" Aluminum MacBook - Black/Redhttp://www.ciao.com/Macally_BookShell_MacBook_Leather_Protective_Cover__15161961 2. Speck See Thru Satin Hard Shell for macbook---it comes in black/red/purple http://www.speckproducts.com/products/seethru-satin/macbook-pro-15-new-black-keys/164 And would anyone know if these are available in Digital Walker?
the speck products have notoriously bad reviews after a while. while i have no real experience with them, the reviews i've read are enough to sway me from getting them. for the same price, look for the incase ones.
Why would you get something and cover the beautiful aluminum case of the new Macbook?? I guess if I were you, just buy the sleeve just incase you want to carry around your macbook without a bag.
I second that, plus the new mb is not that sensitive, it doesn't scratch easily. just try to get a sleeve for it, i got mine from powerpee
I also like mine bare.. I didn't even get a keyboard protector coz I like the feel of the keyboard as it is. I only bought a laptop padded sleeve and it is enough for me, Just be careful of dropping anything hard on your Macbook coz it can get dented like when I was unrolling the cable of my Magsafe, I accidentally dropped the Magsafe on my MB! It left a little dent near the apple logo that I didn't notice til the other day. Fortunately it was barely noticeable unless you look at it closely. Oh well, lesson learned.:slanted: It is also a good thing that the MB doesn't get scratched easily as ericdude said. And if you really want to buy a case, I would personally go with the speck see-thru (transparent) case.
i also keep my macbook bare... it's like getting skirts and spoilers for an Aston Martin. It looks good enough on its own, i don't think you'll need a case for it. I just got a protective sleeve and a keyboard protector (noticed all the dust collecting on the keys eh - high dust environment haha). Just invest in a nice bag or a nice sleeve...
The Speck and incase can scratch your Mac the silent way, you never know it till its too late...ive never owned one but seeing the samples on the stores i bought it in i would never gamble with mine...i've had one similar casing for my Nokia N80 back then and my iphone, its suppose to protect it but when the cover is off its the one causing it...so its like buying for the scratch you are trying to avoid in the first place, you are better of getting it for free.... the best way to protect it is with invisibleshield, it makes it shiny but i get use to it besides it has better grips now and i still do clean it like its never had skin, so the edges and stuff would never collect gunks and dirts...and a sleeve for added protection. i left it bare in its first 3 weeks but because i have the MBP, its more suseptible to bumps and hits so i had to decide a case for it then...gud luck on your decision..
Joseph, I agree with most of the replies here... don't cover the beeeeaaaauutiful shell of the your unibody =D
@Jad, nope, temp is fine and well, but it makes the mbp shiny, at first its kinda weird but im used to it.
no cover!!! i just have belkin sleeve for protection when not in use. why hide something that is beautiful and perfect?
I ordered online, takes bout 10 days to arrive, the problem is self installation, ive heard from fellow muggers that they can purchase them at cubao or greenhills. they can install it for u. the thing about the shield is it need cleaning and occational wiping as well, it will collect dirt just like anything else, some people think when you install them it doest need maintenance anymore thats why we heard complains.....for me this is the most ill do to cover the unibody. too bare its suseptible to scratches, too much cover you are better of with the old one.
