If you got your mac late 2008, shouldn't it still be under warranty? It's still less than a year old.

Maybe he shattered the "glass" screen.. Sorry to tell you but I think only Apple will be able to fix your problem (kahit ang LCD lang). The price will be pretty high because they'll replace the whole display panel.

cracked LCD monitors are not covered by the warranty mainly because these monitors will only crack because of some user error

is it possible you could share how the LCD came to be broken? Just wondering because the protective glass is still intact...

Your most cost efficient option is to just really use an external LCD. Treat it as if your Macbook was transformed into an iMac so you won't feel bad. Use an external keyboard and mouse too to complete the desktop feel. Bonus is if you have to present anything using a multimedia projector, you could still unplug and bring along the macbook (with the VGA adaptor).

Otherwise, you really have to pay the expensive price for the replacement. It's best that Apple replace it so all the rest of the warranty is still preserved, and you can still extend it with AppleCare. Try to see how much it will take if you get it replaced at Apple Stores in the US (might have a slightly lower price, but in dollars; hopefully through a friend/relative that will travel 2 way to the US).

Add: This is a long shot, but maybe worth the effort. Try knowing the manufacturer and country of the broken part (Samsung? Made in Korea?). Then try getting a contact or insider in that company to allow you to buy one. This will really be a special pakiusap since I bet the company has a contract with Apple and does not allow direct selling to consumers.

mine was LP133WX2-TLC2, am trying to look for a seller wala tlga ko makita, the reason why i broke the lcd is naupuan ko sa kotse.. here is the story,,, "yaya pakilagay nmn sa kotse ung kompyuter pate ung mouse.. wag mo kalimutan ung receiver ah.. (my mouse is lgitech nano mouse ung may receiver na maliit) and then when i sat on my car .. ayun.. andun.. sa ilalim ng unan nilagay i heard **CRACKKK**! ayun tapos ang maliligayang araw ng two moths old ko na laptop. ok sana but the thingy is the receiver of the logitech wireless nano mouse is nasa apple logo so ung forced or focal point is nagdiin dun sa apple logo which dumiin sa LCD sa loob. .. after nun.. i ask my yaya in a gentle manner.. yaya bakasyon ka muna... saka teka bket mo nga pla nilagay sa ilalim ng unan ung kompyuter.. sabe ni yaya. kse SIIR bka mawala kaya tinakpan ko ng unan.. What the *&*(!.. pero tama nga nmn xa.. bka ka nmn nawala.. so ang gingawa ko ngayon for the last month is i bought a mini display to dvi sa mac center nasa 1300 din xa. ok lahat LCD lang tlga. thats my story..

Why don't you just send your Mac to a service center (PowerMac, Senco, The A Shop, Digital Walker Machines, etc.) to have your LCD replaced properly?

    P.S.
To add something/change anything in a previous post, it's better to just use the EDIT function (upper right, beside Quote) instead of making successive posts. Thank you.

I agree with Johannes. Even if it's not covered by warranty, if you have it done at a service center, the parts are sourced from Apple and the labor is done by the same techs who do warranty work. You'll just have to pay for everything since it's not covered.

theyre selling the replacement LCD for 32k.
i can buy the LCD for less than 15k. and somebody from mac will do the job for me.
ang problema lang is minamahalan nung iba nasa 19k binebenta. ung iba below 15k
    kaso wala daw stock.

Well, better make sure your source is a reliable one. At half the price, I suggest you proceed with caution.

Since in effect, you're looking for someone to sell you an LCD replacement (at a cheaper price), I suggest that this thread be moved to the Marketplace forum and be classified as an LF thread.

since you're macbook is still under warranty, get the lcd panel (make sure its the correct model) then have any authorized apple service center install the lcd panel so that your warranty will not be voided. the only dilemma is see is if the apple service center refuse to install it because the lcd panel didn't came from them.

is only the LCD broken? the problem with a broken screen is that it might not just be the screen thats damaged. what about the isight, bluetooth and airport card?

i suggest you just spend the money and get the monitor from a service center. it might be a big hassle for you to find just the LCD because there aren't many suppliers here willing to sell single items to individuals.

also, if i'm not mistaken, apple replaces the WHOLE top if your screen has a problem.
