I have been noticing a problem with the isync app in my powerbook.

When I open it I see the right icons (my palm -T2, my phone -T610, and my pod- 3G 40giger). I always use the isnyc conduit to trigger the process so that it includes the T2.

On the latest occasion that I performed this I got the prompt that I needed to "reset all of the devices" which I did only for the T2 and the pod. I did not sync my phone which I usually do via bluetooth since I did not want to lose my contacts.

Right now the isync app window is behaving differently. Everytime I click on a particular device I only get the following details:

    Pipoy's Palm (device name)
Last Synchronized: day, date and time
Check Box "Turn On (device name) synchronization

I am not able to access or see the usual options (contact & calendar options) that normally appear. I only see it flash quickly everytime I click another device in the list.

    What could have happened?

Also, my T2's contact database is totally wiped out. I get the following message:

    DataMgr.c,Line:7399,
    DmWrite: DmWriteCheck
    failed

It also now requires me to RESET the device from this point on.

    Help Please!

    Thanks in Advance.

Oh man, do you have a backup? It's advisable to do a PalmDesktop HotSync every so often so you have a copy. I also recommend a .mac account so you have an updated copy in Apple's server with each iSync action.

If your Address Book's database is intact, export all the names as one .vcf and store it in a safe place. There's also a backup database function in the File menu of Address Book. You might want to backup your iCal events as well. it's File > Export, but you'll need to do it for each calendar group.

Next, the tricky part. Download Apple iSync Utilities and use iSync Uninstall to remove every file and database of iSync (it won't affect your Address Book and ical database). You'll have to download the latest version of iSync after.

Basically, it's starting off on a clean slate. Pair the devices, install iSync Palm, and all the steps to get those devices in iSync. Perform a new iSync, but be sure to choose the options that allow you to choose which takes precedence (device or computer).

Good luck. It's happened to me before and I was able to fix things.

Thanks Elbert for the tips and most specially the links.

Since I've been having Airborne Access issues lately I've been doing my downloading through my office network. Most work but there are some material I can't seem to download due to firewall "blocked pages" and to "proxy avoidance issues" - whatever these are.:(

My address book and calendars are intact on my pbook and I backed these up already into a safe location. I have a copy of these in .Mac as well but not as latest as I would want them to be.:)

Uninstalling and re-installing isync, palm conduit and re-pairing all of the devices solved the erratic behaviour of the isync app itself. I am now able to access the options for every device that I need to sync.

But the problem with my T2 still persists. I am getting the same message when I attempt to access my contact list:

    DataMgr.c,Line:7399,
    DmWrite: DmWriteCheck
    failed

The calendar and the other items in the T2 are fine but accessing my contact list now always triggers a RESET.

I've tried to do this by disabling the isync conduit and triggering a hotsync via the cradle button. Unfortunately, my calendars that I've succesfully synced from the pbook into the palm are NOT being captured by the palm desktop.

Also, I've been trying to run a Docs to Go sync as well but the desktop app for Docs to Go doesn't want to run as well.

Any kind of assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
