Just found out that I get charged a 7% Sales Tax everytime I purchase from the US iTunes Store. Am on a prepaid iTunes account with a fake US address. What address should I use to avoid a sales tax on my purchases?

Thanks in advance for any help.

If i remember right, different states have different sales tax policy. In your case change your account address to CA if you could.

@alfiesy: What state and locality did you register as your address? Sometimes in addition to a State Sales tax, the local municipality may charge an additional sales tax as well. You might want to Google "Sales Tax in the US" and find a place and State without one.

Texas and Oregon don't have it. Don't know which other ones do.

My TuneCard account for iTunes was located in California so no sales tax for me there as well.

The account Tuneshop.net created for me was located in Minnesota. Just changed it to California right now. Ironically, California is supposed to have the highest sales tax in the United States (8.25%) but no tax on downloads.

My iTunes account is from illinios, i don't get charged with additional sales tax as well...

Funny since i always taught that all "online purchases" didn't get "state taxed" unless the "brick and mortar" store was in the same state in which the account is made... (...like if one lives in California and one purchases online with the actual store also in California it's taxable...)

Does this mean that iTunes Store is based in Minnesota?

The US iTunes Store isn't based anywhere, so to speak. The sales tax is computed based on where you live. Or in this case, where you "live".

And in this case, alfiesy, you "live" in Minnesota.
