    hi folks,

I recently purchased Hellgate London. Though it still has a few bugs, there's a lot of potential for the community since it just launched recently. It's a good "quick fix" for gamers who can't invest a lot of time with online mmo's like WoW. I'm not comparing - you really can't. Just wondering if any of you guys have bought / planning to buy. I got mine via mail and its registered to the Asian servers (Singapore).

I'm planning to get this 'coz of the graphics. Also, it has a cool twist for a MMORPG kind of gameplay. May I ask how much the game costs? Also, how much will the membership fee cost? Can you please post screenies?:D

*Just another question: Can this be played on a mac?
*edit: nvm I found the link, this can only be played under windows =( and its for 49.95$ accont is free :D

hello! here are a few tidbits from my 1st 4 hours of gaming experience:

    1. three membership types. there's the free to play, $10 a month, and lifetime $150.00 membership. The difference between the first two types of membership is that the latter gives you access to the real content of the game. Imagine WoW without the instances and elite items ... that's free to play. Lifetime membership gives you membership "forever."

    2. the game plays EXACTLY like Diablo II. I mean, really. Imagine DIablo II played from the perspective of WoW and that's Hellgate London. The action is just as fast as Diablo and there are so many references to Blizzard games. Even the classes are the same -- Evoker (Sorceress), Marksman (Amazon), Engineer (Assasin / Druid), Summoner (Necromancer), Guardian (Paladin), Swordmaster (Barbarian). A lot of the skills are the same too.

    3. The minimum system requirements are very low. It runs on PC's with 512MB RAM on Windows XP and an AGP video card. Of course the graphics suffer. I'm playing this now on my ugly PC because my gaming rig is in the shop. I'll post screenshots later on.

    4. Who is this game for? It is for people who want a quick fix for gaming. Missions aren't too long and the action is fast paced. If you can't afford to spend 4 hours doing an instance on WoW, you can opt for this game instead. There are still many bugs since it just launched.

    5. Price is about P3,700 from DataBlitz. This is the "Alliance" server which is based in Singapore. There's a different box set for the USA servers, albeit laggy. Please correct me if I'm making a mistake with this info on the servers.

    6. here are some photos of the box: http://abuggedlife.com/2007/11/14/hellgate-london-collectors-edition/

The reviews at Gamespot are not that good. However, I don't tend to believe reviews. Hehe.

The videos at YouTube reminds me of God of War. If that's the case, then I'd get Hellgate London too!

    Thanks for the posts, jayveef.

I believe there are three ways to play the game: free play, monthly payments, and one "for life" account. :)

I do not trust gamespot. They tend to give low scores on very good games.

I look at metacritic or gamerankings for review info since it compiles all these review sites.

You connect to the Asian server in Singapore. The "unofficial" version however connects you to the US server.
