Im trying to convert HDCD to ALAC in itunes but the songs are distorted.
Is there really a problem or itunes doesn't support ripping HDCD's to ALAC?

The problem with HDCD is that the songs contained therein are at a higher frequency than normal redbook cds. Instead of the normal 16-but wav files, hdcd contain 24-bit wav files, and thus need special software and hardware for playback.

I dont think itunes can rip hdcd (and other non 16-bit cds like sacd or dvd-audios), and even if it could, you would need a special soundcard or DAC (Digital-Analog Convertor) which is capable of decoding 24-bit audio files. Most normal soundcards are not natively capable of playing 24-bit music files.

    HTH.
