The HERO4 Session looks interesting... and vastly different from the usual HERO camera. It appears that some serious design efforts really went into this.

Apart from the new ball-joint mount (which gives you easy 360º movement), the camera itself is already rugged and waterproof (up to 10 meters or 33 feet) so there's no need for a housing unless you want to go really deep. Fantastic! No more muffled audio because of a waterproof casing and no more worrying if you have a tight seal or not. You can go straight from dry activities to water activities without the need for a housing.

It's also 50% smaller and 40% lighter than current models.

Based on the GoPro camera comparison page, the Session is only consumer grade in terms of low-light capability (compared to "professional" in the Silver and Black). It also doesn't do 4K and 2.7K. Photos are 8MP instead of 12MP and it can't do time lapse videos.

But if you want a smaller GoPro that's rugged and waterproof without the need for a housing, and you don't care much about 4K and time lapse, I think the Session would be an amazing GoPro.

But as always, there's always version 2. :)

wasabi and smatree are the popular ones. ranges around P2k. using smatree and haven't experienced any issues. chose it over the wasabi due to the 3 slot charger.

what software are you using to playback the 4k video? have you tried playing it using the gopro studio?

experienced video stuttering using other softwares, though haven't tried shooting in 4k.

^ There's always a trade-off. ;) So either get a Hero that requires waterproofing accessories and shock cases but may be easier to repair... or get a Hero that's already waterproof and rugged but may be impossible to repair. :)

Got my first GoPro and I'm loving it! Just a quick question. What accessory is best if you want to ride a rollercoaster facing in front of me? I want to see me and my wife's reaction riding one hehe
