Hi! I am in the late 40s, and am planning to take up running, more for fitness. I went to Runnrs and had my feet tested. They recommended running shoes in the range of "stabilizers". Can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive brand? And where to buy it? TIA
Am in my late 40's too and into running too , i use asics but did not have my self fitted. Check out takbo.ph or ebay.ph , they have some running shoes there.
Im 40 also, i use Zoot Ultra 2.0 - they are available in runnr -they should be just around P5k ...what is this? a 40s runners club hehehe
Hi, I'm 22 and I feel that i'm out of place here because of my age..heheh, but seriously, why Asics is one of the recommended shoes? Though I haven't tried to fit it yet, it weighs more than my current nike lunarlon shoes. is it because it's more durable and long lasting than others? please share some insights because i'm planning to buy another one due to my Nike is already worn. Contemplating between Vibram and Asics..
Got diagnosed at Runnr BHS but went next door to Mizuno for my shoes. You may want to take a look at their online "precision fit" for recommendations. Went for the Wave Creation 12 for added cushioning since I'm a bit on the heavy side (5'9 and 190 lbs) and the price wasn't cheap but I know I got my money's worth when my knees and feet didn't ache after a run like they did with my old Adidas Supernovas. Mizuno Precision Fit Online
For stability shoes, Adidas Response Stability, Adidas Supernova Sequence, or Nike Air Structure. I've used all three for long distance training runs (20 kms+) and have been quite happy with them.
Same sentiments here, better na medyo gumastos for the running shoes, for safety reasons. Try looking in sports warehouse me mga branches po sila around metro manila, or the adiddas outlet store. Also the mj46 shop down south po.
You can never go wrong with any Nike running shoes out there in the market.. Nike user here ever since..
If you're from the south, drop by our store, The Starting Line in Westgate, Alabang on the weekends and we can do a quick gait analysis to check your stride and make recommendations on proper running shoes. All the major brands have good models to choose from but in the end, it all boils down to comfort and fit. What works for one may not work for others, which is why we usually suggest 2 to 3 pairs that we ask our customers to try on the treadmill before making a decision.
I've not been running for a while and I am on the extreme heavy side because of this. I recently bought the Reebok Zigtech and I've been using it for casual walks / malling. So far after the first few times of wearing it (since my feet are wide), its already adapted to my the size of my feet. Next stop is to use it for brisk walking and jogging.
We have the same shoes requirement . I use Brooks Adrenaline GTS 11 . Voted as one of the best update for a shoe by Runners world. I have logged about 1,000 Km on this shoes with races from 10km to 100Km . It is very comfortable and keeps my foot supported.
when it comes to running, its ASICS TIGER visit the boutique at Greenbelt and select what model fits u best.
i'm a k-swiss user. i have a k-ona for training, k-ruuz for the track, blade race for triathlons, tubes 100 for casual and travel; and soon a blade light for run races! i am the imelda of k-swiss! but if i were to shift brands, i'd probably give asics gel a try. don't scrimp on shoes. as it is, running is already an affordable sport. wanna buy a $10,000 bike? yeah, you can't go wrong with coach kartman's advice. after all, he just finished ironman 70.3 camsur 2011 with a remarkable PR--on his birthday no less! and to top it off, he qualified for the ironman 70.3 world championships in las vegas next month. go, kartman!
Hi I am in my early 50s and have taken up running. I use a mizuno wave rider 13 but, of course, my feet are neutral. New Balance has a good range of shoes and since they develop models fast, they usually put on sale models after only around 3 months. You might want to check them out. I don't use them because I feel that NB shoes are too wide, especially at the heel so it makes it difficult to maintain a midfoot-forefoot strike.
I recommend mizuno, model depends on your running pattern... I have one right now and my feet and legs did not hurt anymore compared to my previous nike running shoes...
My feet have high arches -- can you recommend something to help with this? my ankles hurt every time I do some brisk walking or running
K-Swiss user here too. I've got 2 pairs of k-onas that I interchange between runs. I'm a slight overpronator so it works pretty well with me. Light, just enough stability and cushioning for me. I've tried Nike, Mizuno and New Balance (later brands being better choices). Have yourself checked at a shop it'll save you time, effort and $ to find the right shoe for you. Don't forget to use good socks and enjoy the road! @ den_lim: there are a number of brands and that have shoes to support high arches. Visit reputable shops (such as runner and kartman's shop) and talk to a specialist about your problem. Try to describe to them when they hurt, how often, bring your shoes and run on their treadmill so they can observe your form.
