i created a new thread to warn others regarding globe's bogus/unwanted charges.

in connection to my post on the other thread, here is what i got from globe.

according to globe's account specialist, since my mobile data is enabled in their system, every time a wifi signal fluctuates while i'm connected to it, globe's system automatically connects my mobile data to it though my phone's cellular data is turned off. given that, its as if the manual on/off of cellular data in my phone is of no use as i have asked its purpose to which the specialist said that it can only be used if id like to manually connect to their system.

their genius solution: to avoid bogus/unwanted charges, i request to permanently disable my mobile data on their system or i subscribe to gosurf:mad::mad::mad:

i guess i have to make separate ways with globe after 12 years

Same pa rin pala yung spiel nila for that..

Share ko rin sa akin, it was 2011 i started my postpaid plan with Globe na Plan 499 with a free handset. When i replaced my phone to a smartphone nagulat ako sa bill ko for data charges, sabi ko once ko lang na on yun nung initial setup, naka off naman lage yun after that at sa bahay naka wifi ako, the CSR insisted na gumagana pa rin daw yung data kahit naka wifi at kahit naka off yung data...useless pala ang on/off data sabi ko..the CSR said yes, mas maganda daw mag avail ako ng Unli Data para hindi na ako magugulat sa charges...i said ayaw ko and insisted them to waived the charges oks naman daw basta dapat they will disable the data services ng account ko at hindi na daw ako makakapagnet using their service, so i said Yes..

There was a time when you availed a handset automatic din na required ka mag avail ng surfing combo, its their way para yung mga hindi familiar about data charges mapagkakitaan(personal opinion ko lang), but their spiel will be, "since smartphone po yung handset in order for you to maximize its features required po talaga yung surfing combo kahit 99 lang"..sa ngayon im not sure kung kung ganun pa rin.

Last year when i availed my parents a plan, I insisted agad na to disable the data services on their account baka mamaya magulat na naman ako sa charges..

Nung nasa business center nila ako one time, nalulungkot ako para sa ibang consumer na nagrereklamo, naka wifi naman daw sila lagi at off yung data bakit may charges pa rin na napakalaki, same spiel then ang agent sa business center...avail na lang daw si consumer ng data plan.

It's ridiculous how their so-called solutions do not actually address the problem. :D

I also kept getting bogus charges even when putting my iPhone in airplane mode when I was out of WiFi for a month, and they still insist that it was my WiFi connection that was choppy. LOL.

From an IT standpoint that's impossible! What's the use of your phone's cellular switch then? Who thought their CSRs that "fluctuate" crap!?

i got my wife a globe line just to try it out 2years back, having been a smart subscriber for 15 years. then she started getting those bogus data charges. when i complained about it, they didn't even argue, just told me that as a matter of policy they can only reduce it by half (that already tells you a lot). i immediately cancelled the subscription. months later my brother, a long-time globe subscriber, complained about the same thing. the crazy thing about it? the bogus charges were exactly the same amount even though he was on a totally different plan!?! never again, globe.

I found the solution to this....

I used to complain to GLOBE on having unwanted/unused data charges billed to me when I'm on wifi most of the time. It is true that the iphone somehow automatically shifts to 3G if the wifi signal is weak as proven by the 3 months of inconsistent data charges that are different from the data counter apps that I have installed on my phone.

So what I did was just turn off the Cellular Data toggle and just turn it on when I really don't have wifi. Since then I've never really had any problems with my data charges. Bill statement data charges are now always consistent/same with my own monitoring.

    hope this helps. :)

As mentioned in another thread, Apple fixed the issue in the new iOS. See this screenshot:

Note the line: "unexpected cellular data usage when receiving SMS/MMS messages".

A bit of OT, my mom is a victim of this as well although she uses an S4. I've had to call Globe on her behalf a lot of times already even to the point of disabling her Cellular Data from their end and not just via her phone but still she still gets data charges in her monthly bill. We are really at a lost as to what else is to be done.

I've been getting this a lot lately as well. They generally always reverse the bogus charges but I find their explanations crazy. The phone itself reflects a certain amount under Cellular Data Usage but my bill has been reflected 3 times the amount.

@dobi, can you talk to your higher management or concerned department to fix the issue immediately. it is very alarming and disgusting.

    thank you
