just the other day, i noticed that all the images viewed via safari are all compressed/lower resolution. at first i thought it was just my safari having problems/bugs.. then when i fired up firefox and opera, i got the same result. compressed-looking low res images!! try this: http://www.wallpapergarage.com/library/Roadster/7_1024.jpg (full size 1280x1024 jpg wallpaper) and this is a screen cap of my display: you can clearly see the pixelation from the screen cap.. based on initial finding, it could be my ISP (globe visibility) that is doing the "image optimization" to make the download faster (i guess?) but i dont want faster image loading. i want my full resolution images! anyone out there using visibility and have the same kind of problems? or is it just me and something i accidentally pressed on my computer? very annoying!!
strange.. orig image: http://www.philmug.ph/forum/showpost.php?p=427352&postcount=299 my screen cap: i dont get it..
Check the included software that you installed, you might have enabled image optimization or something. I think Dial Up ISPs provide the software, I dunno about visibility, it may be included because you might fall into a no 3G zone or that you just want faster image processing.
left image is viewed via safari (online); right image is viewed via Preview (image downloaded via link not grab out from safari)
with mac huawei data card software, there is no option for image optimization.. and am connected via "3g only", constantly on WCDMA and HSDPA. will try to connect via another internet provider/wifi and see if the problem is still there..
tried it also. the picture of the car is ok. but the 2nd picture is not. just like hungryaliens' pic. using firefox here.
Try pointing your mouse to the picture while in safari, then click it. it may be fitted to the page so you can view it entirely. so it may come out with noticeable pixel. It will zoom in when you click it.
That's definitely strange, when I tried out my bro's visibility, it was just fine. I tried it on SMART BRO to see if it was indeed something they did to make browsing faster, but I was getting full resolution images on Smart bro. Could it be that the tower that's nearest to you is all screwy?
I'm using Globe Visibility and I notice the same problem. Images are rendered in lower quality than their supposed actual resolution. They're probably doing this to unclog the network traffic.. I hope they fix this soon. It's getting annoying!
yes, same here. i'm using globe visibility and the lower quality of images started yesterday. i was previously using firefox but when i used safari, the resolution is better. what could be wrong?
I found something out -- hover your mouse cursor over any image and there will be a tooltip telling you to wait a few seconds for full-resolution or press Ctrl F5 to refresh the browser with full res images. Try it
I'm using visibility now using a Novatel Expresscard and Firefox. The images on the first page seem to load at normal quality.
@vic, hahaha if this thing doesnt stop.. you will see me more often in your office "stealing" wifi signals. so frustrating viewing photo sites and picture albums online..
