hi Guys - can you share your experience in using Globe Roam Surf? Not the prepaid one but the fixed 549 per day for Postpaid subscribers. Did you have problems with connection? Was there any hidden charge? I’m planning to use for the first time on my visit to HK next month so hoping to get some feedback coz I’m deciding between this or Klooks offer of pocket wifi which is much cheaper.

Tried RoamSurf a couple of times. The good thing about RoamSurf is that you don't need to configure anything. The clock starts when you turn on your mobile data. You'll get SMS notification for both start and near-expiration of the promo.

Klook's pocket WiFi offer is cheaper but it's only limited to 500 Mb/day.

I’d rather bring an extra device and buy data sim in hk. Plenty being sold in the airport once you arrive.

Thanks Bro. How do you make sure though that you turned data on and not voice and sms? Kind of confuse with the settings in iPhone coz it only has toggle for cellular sata roaming and not voice

There's a dedicated toggle for Data Roaming under Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options.

You can also refer to the Apple Support Document: About cellular data roaming options for your iPhone and iPad

Check out Flytpack as an alternative. It's a pocket wifi service. Much cheaper than Globe roam surf.

Better rent a Mifi device, you could share with your companion plus your phone battery would last longer ;).
And if your going to rent a mifi device, make sure to call globe to deactivate your internet roaming just to be on the safe side.
Just got back from Taiwan and was charged by Globe internet roaming, even when my cellular data and cellular roaming is set to off.

If your phone is network-locked to Globe, no other SIM can work with it. You’ll need an unlocked phone to make use of those prepaid SIMs.

Your only option is to use a pocket Wifi. Bring an open line pocket WiFi

I tried Globe Roam Surf in Singapore and Japan. In both countries I am getting fast connection. I have problem in Indonesia and China, I think it is because of the frequency being used in those countries. But as suggested by others, it is cheaper to just rent a local SIM. In my case I bought a local SIM in Japan and in Singapore after trying Globe Roam Surf

Is it really unlimited? My problem with what Klook offers is that its limited to 500 MB only

If it helps any, the hotel we stayed at in HK offered Pocket WiFi rental. We paid HK$120 for 4 days rental with unlimited data, plus HK$1000 device deposit which was refunded upon checkout. Could not recall if it was 3G or 4G, but man, it was FAST! Also kept my phone on Airplane Mode, with just WiFi turned on.

Not sure about HK. But I used them during my trip to Japan and my allocation is 1GB per day. It resets every 12MN.

Suggest you check out their website: www.flytpack.com
