3 nations in Africa, 6 nations in the Americas, 12 nations in Asia, 21 nations in Europe and 2 nations in Oceania have this. There's a problem with local number portability though. How do you ID a number that is within the same telco as you are? This would be problematic for those who depend on the unlimited SMS or voice minutes/calls.
Yes this would be a big problem especially with our telcos' intra-network unlimited call promos. I think what should happen first is the introduction of unlimited calls to all networks, which won't happen unless telcos lower interconnection charges for calls.
Got news on the Smart Plan Zero (Freedom Plan) Willy mentioned and indeed the monthly to maintain the line is ZERO pesos a month but there is a processing fee of P250.00 whether or not the postpaid is in or out of contract.
just got myself a Freedom Plan to test if it can replace my soon to cut Globe line, may I ask how you use your Freedom plan? para have some hints to maximize its use
OT (since for Smart), can we make this a zero plan thread? Don't 'maximise' use of LTE when you're subscribed to LTE 995. When Smart kicks your sim out of the network (internet), it's hard to regain internet access. That's one thing I don't like with Freedom. I eventually had my Freedom line cut because they could not find what's wrong with the line not getting internet access. Another thing I don't like is when dialling *888, there is no way to connect to a CSR when you are calling from a Freedom line. (No press x to connect to a rep). It's just endless menus. I liked using MEGA250 though (send to 9990) for unli texts to all networks and 180 min calls to Smart/TNT/Sun subs. Not bad. I believe my all in plan does not have this flexibundle.
It depends on the implementation, usually the subscriber number (account number) paired with the mobile number is used as primary key to validate what kind of charges to bill to the client,
One of my freedom plan sims is on my pocket wifi and I am subscribed to unlimited LTE for months now.
natstuff, Under number portability scheme how does the average end user know whether the number they are calling or messaging is within the same network or not? Without number portability chances are numbers with a prefix of 917 is Globe. Willy, did you convert your Globe to a Globe Freedom Plan or did you disconnect your Globe postpaid and get a Smart Freedom Plan postpaid? OT: As for existing Smart postpaid accounts out of contract there is no P250 processing fee to convert the plan to Freedom Plan. Ejaxene, I was told by a Smart agent before to get to a human operator without knowing Smart number is to type in any random Smart number. After the phone menu filtering is done the human operator will still ask for your Smart postpaid number.
aww bummer. I had my all in plan disconnected since I haven't been able to use it (just a backup whenever having signal issues with Globe) and I was offered to apply for a Freedom plan. I agreed then I was asked to choose among the SIM cards available for Freedom plan since they explained that Freedom plan has a different tag compared to the Regular Postpaid plan. What branch allowed your cousin to do that? I am planning to revive my old number since it is still available then convert it to Freedom plan.
Would anyone happen to know if PLDT has a Plan Zero for their postpaid landlines? I have the same goal of retaining the number but I want to reduce the bills from 700+ and 1400+ to as low as possible.
none they do have the prepaid landline called sulittalk as low as 300/mo. i'm getting bayantel's plan 499 with special features.
Anything lower than SulitTalk of P300/month? Outgoing calls are just for ordering deliveries and making short inquiries.
none for wired lines but you can get a prepaid wireless line 15 days for 150. PLDT HOME Prepaid Landline Plus PLDT HOME Sulit Talk practical wired prepaid landline
Thanks for posting. I am thinking more of no allocated voice minutes/calls or SMS and unlimited incoming calls or SMS. But then again if the bill drops to P600 from 2200+ then ok na rin.
landline basic is just 700/mo for PLDT if you have other services like DSL then your bill will be more expensive
What I meant was when inputting my correct Freedom number (when prompted), it takes me to a series of endless menus without having the option to talk to a CSR. I thought of duping the system by inputting a bogus number (a number that does not look like a Freedom line) but why do I need to have to do this in order to talk to someone? Isn't Freedom a postpaid line too? I asked Abbie Real about this and she mentioned that the system does differentiate between different kinds of plans and Freedom is more akin to a prepaid line and not to a postpaid line. Oh well. You're lucky @sui_generis you did not have to go through what I went through. My Freedom line actually had internet in a location somewhere down South (at Startoll near SLEX). Baka wala masyadong gumagamit doon. I thought when it finally connected that my line is fixed. Service really depends on the area and I think my area already is congested so when I came back home the sim still did not connect to the internet. OR maybe the tower nearest me had blacklisted my number. I don't really know how it works so I'm just speculating.
