Mandaluyong near Rockwell bridge has 5G but practically half the speed of what I get in Pasig Rotonda. Maybe I’m far from the tower or internet is fast in Pasig coz it’s a Vico thing.

When I need 5G (to hop off from congested LTE) I turn off my GOMO Sim. That’s the only way you can use 5G.

I turn off GOMO because they don’t charge for iMessage activations — yet. (iMessage needs to reactivate every time you switch on a line).

    • While using two lines in Dual SIM mode, 5G data isn't supported on either line and will fall back to 4G LTE. In China mainland, 5G data is supported while using two active lines in Dual SIM mode on the line that's using cellular data. In China mainland, while using Dual SIM with 5G, 5G Standalone isn't available.

that's why i still prefer the HK model (CHINA).

Looks like its a carrier profile and tech thing. Something’s preventing 5G dual standby with the tech our telco is using.

5G dual standby is disabled on launch, and will come later on. so be patient and wait for apple to enable it through software updates.

Okay theorizing its because we still don’t have THAT great of a 5G coverage (compared to China). Battery saving measures?

I just got my iphone 12 pro max the other day and started using it yesterday. It is currently on iOS 14.3 and using a 5g enabled sim. I’ve checked cellular data setting and don’t see 5g toggle. Are there any steps I need to do to enable 5g or I just need to be on a location with 5g coverage? Thanks

    Try going to settings>general> about

there might be a carrier update that your phone is missing. I think the latest carrier version for globe is 45.1

Impressive. I’m amazed as Globe’s 5G seems to be much faster than 5G in the US. I hope they bring back unlimited data (or a cap of up to 30-40gb) kahit sa Plan 1499 up lang, sayang 5G if wala. Hehe. Then the only bottleneck would be battery life.

^you are right, actually one of the reasons i went up from plan 1799 to globe platinum three or four years ago is mainly for that unlimited data, they used to have that on lower plans.

I’ll probably bite if unlimited goes to 2499! Though the 3799 price is in-line with US pricing and isn’t THAT bad, we are in the Philippine context after all :)

Just wait until they saturate their services yet again and quality will surely go down. It's a textbook MO of any service providers in PH. Hope I'm wrong though. Loving 5G as well. :D
