If you don't have an iTunes account, you're probably missing out on the 600x600 album art offerings of iTunes 7. Get your album art covers here! If you find any bugs or whatnot, contact me ;-)
execute, thanks for the applet. I learned something from a podcast that I subscribe to named "Maccast". On their August 24th podcast, someone shared a way to download lyrics and album art which i have tried and it works. It's a bit lengthy but for those who don't have an itunes account and want to automate the process of downloading album art and lyrics, the following works but not for everything. so between execute's applet and this way which I suggest, you should be ok. Step 1: download a script named needle drop. You can get this from www.dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=justplaythisone Step 2: go to home>library>itunes and create a new folder named "Scripts" drage the needle drop applet into the "Scripts" folder Note: What does this applet do? It runs a script in itunes that allows you to decide how much time you will play a certain song in a playlist. Step 3: go to the apple website and download a widget named "Sing that itune". Here's there link http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/music/singthatitune.html. Install this in your dashboard. Step 4: Click the "i" in the widget and check save lyrics into itunes and save artwork into itunes, click done. Step 5: Open iTunes and create a new playlist with all your music which you want to look for lyrics and album work. Step 6: Go to that playlist and click the first song on the playlist. You will notice that there is a apple script icon on the menu bar. click that script sign and you will see needle drop. click needle drop and it will run the applet which will ask you how long you want to play each song. I use 15 seconds. It will ask you how many seconds into the song you want to start playing the song. I just put 1. After this, the needle drop applet should start running and playing each song for 15 seconds. Go immediately to dashboard and you should see the "sing that iTunes" running and downloading artwork and lyrics if available. Just keep running this thing in the background. I started this around 1:30 am this morning and I have gotten quite a bit of album art. You will also get some lyrics if you're lucky. Hope this helps. I suggest that you run this thing in the background or at night. I'm running this for my iTunes library on my macbook and up to now, I'm not yet done and I only have around 20 gb of music. I haven't consolidated by library with my external hd where Ihave around 15,000 songs. That's going to take forever to do. anyway, I hope this helps. As I said, with the applet from execute and this suggestion, you should get quite a few of those album covers.
This is another sign of the impeding true iPod video. It'll require higher res album art to display on it's 16x9 screen.
Nice tip alhuang1! dominiquejames, I think King might have a point there. But the official explanation for the free 600x600 album art from Apple, I would say, is because of the new cover flow view in iTunes 7.
Glad you like it, execute. It took almost 6 hours for the needle drop to go through about 1650 tracks of stuff on my itunes. Hmm, I think it will take me a long long time to run needle drop/sing that itune for my main music collection. Also, I'm not getting all the album covers. In fact, I have still so many that the applet didn't pick up but it's a start and as I said, you can just run it in the background while you're doing other stuff on your mac or alternatively, as I mentioned, let it run the whole night and just sleep and relax while it picks up album covers and lyrics for you. It's almost like having an automator workflow.
Try Clutter @ http://sprote.com/clutter/, It searches album art for whatever Itunes is currently playing
Or Fetchart http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/12083 Just install and i will automatically look in Amazon and download the music that you are currently playing.
BTW: How do I change the album art? I accidentally dragged and dropped an album art to the wrong album, and now I can't change it.
will it install the album art into the iPod directly? Kasi sa akin, all my songs are in my iPod, I manually move all the songs to it and not store any song on my small HDD. Can you explain how this will work? thanks
Most probably you have to copy your music in your HD since it will copy album art on your music library inside itunes and not directly on your ipod. The option i find in the application is only COPY TO ITUNES.
Hi fellow muggers, I've created a simple app for automating the whole process of downloading hi-res album art from the ITMS and update all album tracks with the artwork. You can download the installer here. Before using the application, make sure your mac meets the following requirements: 1. It should have the latest version of Java (1.5 or greater) 2. I've only tested it on OS X 10.4.x (Tiger). I don't know if it will run on lower versons of OS X. 3. I haven't tested it on Intel macs yet. Steps: 1. Type in the album title and the artist text fields then click on the search button. 2. If the app is able to find an album art from the ITMS, wait for the file to download and show up on the screen. Otherwise, a dialog box informs you that no album art was found. 3. Click on the set art button and it will update the album tracks with the downloaded artwork. Notes: 1. The app doesn't update any tracks that already contain artwork for safety. 2. If you guys want to help out with this app, comments and feature requests are always welcome. But note that I can only do this on my spare time. 3. An original icon is needed for the app and the about box. If any of you guys want to "donate" a cool icon for this app, it will be most welcome.
