ive seen this app a few months back but since i own an MBair decided to uninstall it since it may slow down my tiny winy processor.. now looking at the post your desktop thread, ive seen 2 member (aprc, iceman) currently using it so might as well post it here for other members to benefit. GeekTool download here some script to get you started, i only use the activity monitor and date- but you can also post your script find here monitor CPU Display Uptime CPU/Memory Usage Display Calendar date and time there's so much more out there so if you have your own script/shell you created or found interesting please post it here look here to get you inspired, pretty awesome screenshots.. i really liked this one
cool apps here... i like this one... http://projects.tynsoe.org/en/geektool/shots/shot2.jpg Are there other useful commands we can use?
here's what i did a while ago http://www.philmug.ph/forum/showpost.php?p=591126&postcount=1760 also here's how to add an RSS feeds into your geektool (link here) tried it but modified it to feed ESPN.com top news
This app looks really cool. How about the performance hit? RAM usage? Does it have a small mem footprint?
according to activity monitor: CPU = 0.5 # Threads = 5 Real Memory = 8.52MB i havent notice any difference in the battery yet but will observe more didnt saw that on the readme maybe i missed it, but im using it on an Intel Mac running 10.5.6
TIP: To minimize CPU usage try not to lower your refresh rate too much except for the Desktop Time since you need it in real time a value of 1 is good and try not to overlap refresh rate of different scripts so that CPU usage is alternating when triggered. PARC
check/uncheck on the prefspane to enable/disable it. You can also uninstall it if thats what you like using the downloaded .dmg here's a good one, display your iCal Events and todo on your desktop. Read here for detailed step by step instruction (btw on the icalbuddy, terminal command it should be install.command not install.sh)
@ aldrin resize your box, change the font colors etc and place it in your desktop to anywhere you want. edit: looking at your screenshot, dont change the background color just keep it to default wc is invisible. check the 1st page all of the screenshot there are on invisible background.
