good morning. You have to subscribe and yahoo preium mail service for you to integrate it to your apple mail application. I think the yahoo uk can be integrated free in apple mail and am not sure. Me, i just use my yahoo mail as alternative email but my gmail as my primary email. Don't use yahoo mail much often now.
If you don't want to pay yahoo then use gmail more often.

@uio, he's trying to use Yahoo! Mail with MacFreePOPs (which is based on FreePOPs), an app that supposedly lets you use web-based mail accounts with regular POP clients such as Apple Mail.

What you're talking about is actually enabling POP support in the Yahoo! Mail by either by subscribing to their premium service or opening another account in a country that has free POP support. I don't think that's what he's interested in right now.

Here's the best advice I can give: ditch Yahoo, get Gmail.

in line with elbert's advice... my not suscribe your gmail account to the yahoogroups of your school orgs? wouldn't that be a wise decision?

Re: Help pls, yahoo on apple mail via macfreepop

yeah that's what i do. i subscribe my gmail account to the yahoogroups of orgs so that the messages get forwarded to my gmail. that way i don't have to go to yahoo.

I am telling him the OPTIONS and not suggesting to open another account in a country that has free pop. What I am trying to emphasize is that you CANNOT INCORPORATE YAHOO Mail in apple mail account for FREE! I have already subscribe my gmail into yahoo groups so that messages gets forwarded into my apple mail.
So elbertc is right, forget about yahoo and get into gmail if you want it for FREE.

Of course you can. That's why it's named MacFreePOPs. The only problem is that it's a workaround with no guarantee.

This is how I set up my Mail. and now I'm able to receive and send (love the stationaries!) emails from Mail.app
Thanks to Xai for the instructions! It was the best birthday present ever!

    We need
    http://www.e-link.it/macfreepops/
    A yahoo mail account
    A gmail account

    1. Download MacfreePOPs (recently updated to 2.5)
    see here
    Install and run
Check for updates and update it first
    see here

    2. Launch Mail and set up a new account.
Type in the full name u want to appear
    and your Yahoo! Mail address
and type in your Yahoo! password
DO NOT CHECK "Automatically set up your account" :)

    3. Incoming mail server
    see here
follow the details shown above. make sure it shows your yahoo login credentials (and input your yahoo password too)

    4. continue...
    (continue lang ng continue!)

    5. Outgoing Mail server
    [IMG]
this is where we'll need our gmail account
    set the description as "localhost"
user authentication is gmail email address, and put it your gmail password
    click continue.

    6. then click create :)

    7. Launch Mail.app Go to mail preferences
    see here

    8. set the Incoming Mail Server as 127.0.0.1
    [IMG]
AND make sure the dropdown for OUTGOING MAIL SERVER (SMTP) is "localhost" and check "use only this server"

    9. Go to the advanced tab
    [IMG]
and set the port to 2000

    AT THIS POINT
You should be able to download your emails from Yahoo.
BUT, at this point, whenever you send emails, and whenever someone replies to the email, the messages will go to our gmail inbox. and of course, we want replies to our Yahoo! Mail whenever we send out an email from yahoo right?

    Now we go to terminal
    see here

What we're gonna do next is instead of having to specify each time we send a mail to "Reply-To" your yahoo mail, this terminal code automatically sets it for you. so whatever we send will be replied to your Yahoo! mail set up in Mail.app. mmm, it's kinda hard to explain, suffice to say, we just gotta do this :)

    Follow these steps
    # Open Terminal.
    # Type "defaults read com.apple.mail UserHeaders".
    # Press Enter.
    # If that command returns "The domain/default pair of (com.apple.mail, UserHeaders) does not exist":

    * Type:

    defaults write com.apple.mail UserHeaders '{"Reply-To" = "[email protected]"; }'

and replace [email protected] with the address you want to be used for replies. So if your email is [email protected], put in [email protected] instead of [email protected].

So everytime u want to check your emails, just launch MacFreePOPs, then launch mail. It'll download your mails and you can send reply etc!

here's a mail I just sent to myself just a while ago!!!

UPDATE: for those who eventually do get this up and running, I guess don't forget to go to

    Mail->Preferences->Advanced
and UNCHECK "Remove copy from server after retrieving a message" to retain mails in you web mail if you like keeping them.

Re: Mail.app to work with free Yahoo! Mail

oo nga pala, it does not work the same as Mail in iPhone. It's not that iMAP something jargon I don't understand. So your personal folders are not mapped in Mail.app.

I used to monitor my items in folders in my web Yahoo! Mail, but then I put them all in the inbox instead and created smartfolders nalang in Mail.app. hehehe

anyhoot lemme know if you have any problems :)
