Not sure if this is exactly the right forum, mods just move if needed: Versatile male vocalist. 35 years old but very youthful. LOL. Influences include Billy Corgan, Bono, Thom Yorke, John Mayer, Craig Armstrong (instrumentation and musicality wise), Cocteau Twins, and Michael Stipe. I write my own songs and collaborate well with others, as I have a very flexible sense of music. I can play some guitar, and a lot of piano (as I am a classically trained pianist). Background: I used to be very active in the 90's grunge scene and was successful in terms of getting my band booked at every possible grunge joint and gig back then. My band released an album in 1997 and we scored a number 1 hit in NU107 called "Sigaw Sa Langit." We also got a music video on MTV Asia airplay at that time. I pursued a solo career in 2001 playing goth inspired piano / vocal performances, and was put to a halt after two months of playing solo at Mayric's, due to career shifts. Last year I made attempts to form a trip hop band but realized it wasn't as simple as it sounded (not too many keyboardists out there). So now I'm really just bent on looking for collaborators (preferably guitarists who can co-write songs with me) and bandmates- drummer, bassist, guitarist. Ideally I'm thinking of going into a fusion of rock, jazz, even trip hop- whatever it is that rocks our boat. My only requirements- you must have your own instrument and have flexibility with schedules. You must be quite passionate and good at what you do. Would also help if you know Garage Band (as I'm struggling with it lol). Need to get back into the scene and if you are as serious and passionate about music as I am and want to jam and play gigs, send me an e-mail at rock35singer at yahoo dot com.
Can I join? I can play rhythm guitar or a little keyboards. I can also help in writing songs. I'm also into grunge. Music preferences are Smashing and Radiohead too, and Incubus. Let's bring back the grunge! I use both Garageband and Logic Pro...
Nice career bro! I also started playing the piano before I shifted to guitar, but I concentrated on the strings more as my grandmother's piano started to stay out of tune, I also enjoy playing the bass guitar specially when non of my friends wanted to play it or wanted to get the bassline of a song we are covering. I also do vocals and used to front some friend's and relatives hobby bands on non-regular gigs doing alternative covers a long time ago my influences are Red Hot Chili Peppers, Silverchair, Incubus, Matchbox 20, Creed and some oldies like Eagles, Beatles etc.. im more into writing songs now and finished one which I recorded using garageband, (though no vocals yet as I need to record it separately with a nice mic and a quiet room)
@angel_benet, can i jam as well or hang out... maybe i can learn something new form you guys. mejo rusty na coz i havent been able to play my guitar for the longest time
I'd like to join. I know maracas. and I can sing. kakahiya. The vocals (jingle) from Okay fine Whatever sitcom was mine.
Vendetta guitar plugged to Zoom 505.. I can only play rhythm, I'm not talented to be a lead guitarist. For Keyboards, Behringer plugged to Fast track M-Audio plugged to my MacBook unibody running MainStage.... I live in Malate.. Are you familiar with Transound studio? I live in front of that studio.. How about you? What band were you in? I was an NU listener... May I suggest Today by Smashing Pumpkins and Karma Police by Radiohead? Maybe we can meet and hear our own compositions too... @boy_jorg: Same here, I rarely touch my guitar for about six months already. I know you're better than me, avatar pa lang, hehe... I'm also after the learning experience, with Travism being PhilMUG's music guru and Angel_benet past band experience....
@phil: hahaha that was ages ago bro when i was still 'active' in the band scene. dinaan na lang yung avatar sa porma
Hi Phil, I also have that zoom 505 but I dont use it as much. it sounds a bit tinny. I'd rather use the built in effects of Logic, sounds much better, if you ask me. anyway, if you guys are serious about forming a band, can I throw some of my compositions to you guys? most of it is arranged already w/ a demo recording. just let me know if this is something you guys are open to.
i'm free weekends. can i comment on the song suggestions? i'm kinda trying to get out of that grunge mode, i don't think i can sing those songs anymore- i still have the capacity to sing them but what i mean is i'm leaning towards a different genre now. you open to that?
ill try to play lead pero im not sure if im cut out for it. try na lang natin. any genres fine by me. Before we used to cover foo fighters, ash, incubus, kula shaker, oasis, etc. sa oldies naman eagles, beatles. of course we also play our originals din before. i use epi dot cherry red and tonebone classic with rft tube im free til july hehehe vacation mode eh just let me know when and where sir
