Hi guys! My problem is the one indicated in the thread title. It seems that this week, my firefox loads hell slow. Actually it isn't just slow, sometimes, it wouldn't load a page. I tried to open safari to see if the internet connection was the culprit (or the site), but it seems that safari loads very very fast.

Here's the solutions I tried: Resetting the router, deleting the cache. And it still loads slow, and almost every 5 minutes says "firefox cannot load page". During the times that "firefox cannot load page", safari seems to be running alright.

    Any ideas guys?:D

Edit: There are times that firefox loads blazingly fast :D

There are cases wherein a page would hang in Firefox and I cannot do a Force Quit. In this case I would need a Restart to quit Firefox. Maybe it's the add-ons that are causing it, I am not sure.

Yes, I agree... there are probably add-ons interfering with the speed.

May I invite you to try Camino and see if it's slow or fast?

Hm..I guess I'll try Camino. And oh, I tried removing the add-ons with my firefox, still to no avail (yesterday) but today, firefox is working fine :D

It seems that i experienced the same thing lately. My Firefox recently hang when i go back to previous page. It is stuck with a beachball and all i can do is to Force Quit Firefox. What could be wrong with our Firefox?

This might be off topic but anyway/

I really want to use Safari but I want to switch through tabs a lot easier if it's possible. Unlike in firefox, Safari uses Command + Shift + [ or ] to switch through tabs. Highly inconvenient I would say.

Plus to go to the search field in the browser of Safari, I have to press Command + L and then press tab when I can easily just press Command + K in Firefox.

If anyone can help me with hotkeys in Safari, it would be much appreciated. And if not, I guess I'm going to find myself downloading firefox soon again on this new macbook. Thanks guys!

Yeah same problem I experience. I notice that a lot when I visit the Apple website while using Firefox. Like what I've mentioned in my previous post, sometimes I cannot even do a force quit. I need to restart my Mac to terminate the application.

Ah, but to make it a fair test, you should have also deleted the Safari cache.

Anyway, I recall hearing a Digg podcast earlier this year announcing the release of the new Firefox beta. Kevin and Alex were complimenting the new user interface, and looking at a chart comparing relative speeds. I distinctly remember them saying "And with this release, Firefox is almost as fast as Safari."

This statement is of course, is very subjective. A browser's strength depends on how you use it. For example, there are Opera, OmniWeb, Camino, and Flock fans who'd avoid Safari and Firefox. :)

im on firefox2. the only time i run into trouble is if an add-on needs updating. then it slows down, i just need to quit firefox then either run or get rid of the updates then im good. i still like it better then safari. just more comfortable with it. plus with firefox add-ons one can really change firefox to suit their needs.

I use firefox since I also use the same application in windows. But I also have that problem in other apps. Ex: my adium is connected but my web brower finds it hard to surf and vise versa. Sometimes my parallels can't connect even if the mac is connected, vise versa too. Maybe it's on the internet connection and not on our macs?
