After the updates finished installing, i tried to open the app but the dock icon just bounces for a little while and the app never opens. I tried rebooting, but to no avail. Anyone have any ideas? TIA

@boy_jorg: If on windows, use the Software uninstaller in Control Panel in add/remove programs (Win XP, not sure how on Vista). If on Mac OSX, move the app from the Applications Folder into trash, and then empty trash.

or download the firefox application, it will over write your current application, if it can't fix, i think uninstalling is your last resort.

uninstalling: just send to trash the firefox application

Oh i see, i thought i need to remove something in the Library to fully uninstall. I have placed the app in the trash and downloaded the app from the homepage. Still, the problem persists.

@boy_jorg: Try downloading another installation copy of Firefox. The one you downloaded may have been a corrupt copy or an incomplete download.

try clearing the cache and cookies.. that might help but im sure its not! :p so you're done with reinstalling and still it doesn't work right? try updating your OS or check for any updates for Firefox.. i think our last option is to use Safari then.. :(

from what i heard, the latest version of firefox, 3.0.5, is still unstable. Maybe that is the reason why you keep on experiencing such problems. I myself is currently using an older version, 3.0.1.

You may also like to try Google's Chrome if you still don't want to use Safari as your main browser.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but since this is about Firefox problems, I'm having one: I can't seem to download anything from Firefox. Says I have to change directory or something. I tried changing settings in the preference pane, but nothing. Any ideas?

Try deleting the Firefox preference file under Library/Preferences folder.

The latest VLC would not work on my old Macbook and my current Unibody MBP until I deleted the old preference file.
