The first official release version of Firefox, version 1.0, is now available at ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.0/mac/ - get it na!
Hi Adel, still involves manual work but converting my Bookmarks into an HTML file helped me transfer my Bookmarks to OmniWeb. HTHs. I do hope Safari gets updated soon.
adel, you can try to extract all your bookmarks with safari bookmarks extractor http://www.arcadiadesign.it/deerdesign/sbe/english/english.html then import the extracted file using bookmarks manager in firefox
You can have a dozen browsers even, it won't have any adverse effects on your system. But if you really want to remove IE, just drag it from the Applications folder into the trash.
Did anyone notice that the Google ad at the bottom of our forum is still flushed left even when using the already official Firefox 1.0 release? In Safari, the Google ad is exquisitely centered. Just an observation.
You can also use something like URL Manager Pro. Let's you access your bookmarks from any application (like several different browsers).
i am having a problem installing/decompressing the file. i downloaded it from mozilla's website. it says it has 8.6mb to download but got two files with a total of 19.5mb and everytime i tried to open Firefox 1.0.dmg.gz it duplicated with increased file size. i just hope it won't hurt my system. i don't know if i'm doing something wrong, i am new with macs and never encountered this. help please...
When you decompress Firefox 1.0.dmg.gz, another dmg file will appear. Double click on that and it will mount the Firefox installer, just drag Firefox to your Applications folder (or any folder in your hard disk). After that you can safely delete both the dmg.gz file and the dmg file HTHs. Coming from an Omniweb user, I have to say that Firefox is so much faster but I've been spoiled by thumbnail tabs that I'm sticking with Omniweb But if the guys decide to make Firefox use OS X's systemwide spell checker, I'd switch in a heartbeat.

Hmmm Miguel when I saw your post I decided to try it out for myself. And hot damn, you weren't kidding. It's blazing! Methinks I will be straying away from my Safari/Saft combination for the next few weeks.
I think its just you.. But seriously, its probably because of your cache. You've been using Explorer rather than Safari haven't you? Clear out the cache on both Explorer and Firefox, then see which one is faster.. [Edited on 11-12-2004 by Mxzylplyk] [Edited on 11-12-2004 by Mxzylplyk]
