Hello, Our iMac finally arrived (see original help post here). It's a 24" iMac with memory upgrade and is now a 4GB machine. While we were waiting for the iMac to arrive, we used a recently purchased Final Cut Pro on an MBP. When the iMac was delivered, the delivery guys overheard us talking about removing the FCP on the MBP because we're going to use it on the iMac. They suggested that we can leave the FCP on the MBP because according to them, the license does not restrict us to 1 machine. Is this true? Or is there a multi-user version of the FCP? I'm looking at the books (very heavy!) that came with the FCP and doesn't say anything about 1 FCP = 1 MAC restriction. Then again, I didn't go thru the EULA (if any) because let's face it, it's long and boring. Yeah, no excuses. But maybe a PhilMUG member has already read the EULA? Thanks!
Why don't you just try and install it on your iMac. I'm sure it will give a warning if you can't install it due to license. @everybody Hey.. i'm not condoning piracy here. It's just that he already paid for the FCP and I'm sure installing it to another mac that he owns wouldn't be much a big deal. If he doesn't own either of it (FCP or iMac) then that is piracy.. and piracy as a no-no..
the license allows you to install FCP on 1 desktop and 1 laptop. am i right, guys? that's the case for my bro-in-law's FCP.
2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on one Apple-labeled desktop computer and one Apple-labeled laptop computer so long as both computers are owned and used by you. http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/finalcutpro51.pdf
No, havent read the EULA either. But they have built a system into FCP that If you copy FCP on two machines, everything will work fine until you run FCP on BOTH MACHINES AT THE SAME TIME and on the SAME NETWORK. The machine running FCP that you opened last will detect that there is already a copy with the same serial number running on the network and will shut it down.
Hi Folks. Any FCP users here? Can you install the app on multiple Macs under 1 apple account? Is there also a free trial version? Thanks in advance.
No trial, but when you but you can install it to any mac you or your family may have via family sharing.
Thanks. Is there a limit to the number of devices that you can install? Is there also an an additional subscription required for family sharing?
