@vanfernando, it's not an iMovie. it looks like but a simplified version of the Final Cut Pro.

Apple Final Cut Pro X released

Apple has released Final Cut Pro X, the latest version of the company’s professional video editing app. Available for download immediately from the Mac App Store, where it’s priced at $299.99, Final Cut Pro X introduces a new Magnetic Timeline which allows for easier placement and rearrangement of clips, rather than the strict timeline in previous versions of the app. There’s also two new companion apps, Motion 5 for professional motion graphics and Compressor 4 for advanced media encoding, which are available as individual downloads priced at $49.99 each.

FCP X, together with the new Motion and Compressor, is now RELEASED in the App Store!

And oh, the reason why there is NO update for Color/Soundtrack Pro is because they have been integrated into FCP X, so Apple flaunts that the new FCP is the only application for one's post-prod workflow.

Can't wait to have my hands on this! :))

Effective June 21, 2011, Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Express, and Final Cut Server have reached end of life.

WOW! I use FCP7 intensively and this new version with those new features, the way I see it, will help address most of my problems in FCP7. It'll also make my workflow faster. I'll definitely get this one!

It'll be a challenging transition but I'm sure it will be worth it.

Please link. I genuinely want to see what are their grievances.

On another note, I'm shock and very happy to see that FCP X is so affordable. VIVA the Apps store. :)

Nice features, but looks like our old way of editing has to be unlearned in order to take full advantage of its new features. I dont think Im ready for this one....

Very much too. I've been reading the release notes and it seems that Apple is now moving away from the movie industry. :((

Re: Apple Final Cut Pro X released

From what i've read in the forums:

    1. No EDL support
    2. No XML support
    3. No OMF
    4. Cannot open legacy Final Cut Pro Projects
    5. No dual external Monitor support
    6. No log in/out for tape based workflows
    7. No multi-cam support

They say Apple is gonna be posting updates soon to bring SOME of these functionalities back. But right now, they really pissed off a lot of pro editors for putting something out that they cant incorporate into their professional workflows. Personally, i dont think il be using these features much. Cant say for the others tho.

There's going to be updates for FCP X's shortcomings... chillax mga peeps. :) I'm actually excited to use these new features. I especially dig the new Audition feature.
