Hi! I'm thinking of getting an external display for my MacBook. I find the current resolution (1280x800) very limiting. Can anyone recommend a reasonably-priced HD LCD monitor with decent performance? I'm considering Samsung's P2370 actually, though I'm kinda hoping the XL2370 comes out soon locally.

    Recommendations are welcome :)

i passed on the P2370 because the reviews weren't very encouraging despite being the prettiest monitor in the market. i didn't want to wait for the arrival of the XL2370 anymore because i could already tell how much pricier it will be than the ones already out there.

despite being an earlier model, check out the reviews of samsung's 2333SW (i got the 2233sw). PQ-wise, many still prefer it over samsung's latest offerings despite its limited connectivity.

also check out LG's excellent W2353V (w/ hdmi).

I got me a P2370. The first one I got was a dud with 4 dead/hot pixels. I was lucky enough to have it replaced after a week since the normal policy should be more than 10 dead/hot pixels for them to consider replacement. The replacement was perfect and liking it so far. Other than limited connectivity (no HDMI), it is all I expect it to be. The next model after this one is already a TV/Monitor. Your next option is the XL2370 once available.

Thanks for the suggestions! I think I'll just wait for the XL2370 then. Really want an LED backlit one anyway :D
