AFAIK, LTO already has guidelines regarding registering electric vehicles and that’s way way back pa.

The only problem with electric cars in PH is the lack of charging stations and really really low numbers of car dealerships that offers EVs.

A few luxury car manufacturers have already official launched their EVs this year. Jaguar’s iPace, Porsche’s Taycan not to mention the Hyundai Kona. Audi will be launching the eTron first quarter next year.

What i meant with the waiting (before they launch the leaf) is for the laws, IRR, etc. is in support of electric vehicles:-

Hopefully, our lawmaker comes out with subsidy or tax credits to further lower the entry point of hybrids and electric vehicles. Likewise, the infrastructure needed for charging stations.

That's why we only see only a trickle of prius in our roads even though it was launched a long time ago here.

As to registering electric vehicles, this has been addressed in this thread.

Hmm. If it’s 1.8M, I’d say reasonably priced considering the Kona Electric is at 2.3-2.4M. The 311 Km would probably be sufficient for city driving within Metro Manila. Question is how long will the battery last, 5 years? 8 years? And what’s the cost of the battery replacement?

I'm a big fan of Nio, however I wasn't able to convince my wife to buy shares early...

Also (even if it was available locally) have no plans to purchase their cars over a Leaf or a Prius

Once saw an article 7 years ago that Prius' batteries last about 10 years of normal driving & cost Php 100,000 (then) to replace.

Hmm Might be a little different for the Leaf. The Leaf is an electric car, the Prius is a hybrid.

I wonder how these EVs will perform on our flooded streets.

Not sure if I posted it here or on another forum...

Would also want to know if EV batteries can be submerged in water...

Imagine how a storm like Ondoy affect the water around the EV...
