Maybe that senator is what the local EV industry needs. He has the influence to make the superchargers available, cause those things need the cooperation of the transmission companies. That high voltage wires highest on the poles is where the superchargers will get the power from. They're not going to spend on building them with nothing in return.

There’s a fleet of Japan donated Toyota Priuses to the PNP that largely remain unused and untapped. For one, maintenance is steep and can only be performed by qualified attendants from Japan itself. Parts are only available in Japan or South Korea. Then there’s the problem of charging the vehicles. One driver complained that it takes 8-10 hours to fully charge one vehicle because the charging pods are not enhanced to optimum usage in this country. Then there’s a lack of charging facilities elsewhere. One Prius lost power midway to Bicol and has remained there since January. For us to adapt to electric vehicles and/or hybrid ones, charging stations need to be set up strategically and not rely on that outlet in your garage.

The earlier Toyota Prius hybrids didn't need recharging. It recharges itself when it's on gasoline power. Braking & decelerating also charges the battery of hybrids. That's why I favor first having the gasoline/electric hybrids for the Pinas. It doesn't depend on electric charging stations. Those can come later.

These were new models donated last year. There’s a charging station in camp. There’s also one in Clark. Wonder why there would be charging stations when they recharge on their own.

If I remember correctly... Only the JDM Prius can be plugged-in to charge. They also have an EV mode.

Outside Japan, they shouldn't require charging.

Had a quick chat with an SA from Audi. The Audi eTron will be launched later this year and will be priced at roughly PHP5M. Fairly similar to the TOTL Q5.

5M for an electric Audi car sounds too good to be true...

(As I posted earlier) BYD's e6 is priced at 4.2M - that car is a common sight here for Grab Electric Taxi

Yeah I know but according to the Audi SA it would benefit from tax rebates/exemptions hence the PHP5M price tag.

A cheaper alternative is the Kona Electric at PHP 2.3M. You have to wait for 6 months though.

Mm....mahal pa rin. Until they priced it the same as gas models, it is still a global pipe dream. Reality check.

Hmm. Is this a pun on Tesla? Tesla was named after Nikola Tesla. ;);)

Just got an invite from a Jaguar SA. Jaguar Philippines will be launching the i-Pace. Jaguar’s EV crossover SUV directly competing with the Audi e-Tron and the Tesla X.
