Has anyone been able to apply for a copy of their birth or marriage certificate online using a Mac?

About a year ago, I was able to get a copy of my marriage certificate from the NSO via their eCensus facility (online). It was pretty easy. I just filled up a secure online form, deposit at Metrobank, and waited for Aboitiz to deliver.

Today I tried requesting for a birth certificate. I get the following problems when I go to Request > Apply Certificates:

With Safari and Firefox, I get a page referring to browser incompatibility (with links to Netscape and IE downloads).

IE (5.2.3), just plain crashes. I've tried it over three machines already (on Panther and Tiger at that).

Anyone else having this problem? Does this mean I have to use a crummy (ugh) peecee?

    Here's the link: eCensus.

I've tried it with Safari and I get the same results with the following message:

Our Web Application requires Internet Explorer 5.5 (or higher) or Netscape Navigator 7.1 (or higher).
We have provided you with the following links to download the said requirement. Thank you.

I just verified, it works with Netscape. Now I have four browsers! I'm still waiting for the day when one browser is all you need.

Thanks for the info everyone, it's good to hear that somehow we're already utilizing the technology for even the simplest tasks (but is nonetheless a previously time-consuming chore in real life!).

I only hope that soon, these tasks would be seamlessly compatible with our Macs as well!

A friend of mine would be happy to find out about this feature also (b'coz this would definitely save him the trouble), but I guess he won't have a problem accessing it b'coz he's still using Windows! :x:

I'll be trying out this feature also in the very near future, when the need arises.

Just an update on this thread ....

Today, I needed some documents and I wanted to get it through the eCensus facility of the National Statistics Office (NSO). Guess what, guys -- to this day, 2 years after Elbert created this thread, the situation hasn't changed one bit.

Oh, it did change. A bit. I was trying to look for and download Internet Explorer for the Mac, and as we all know, support for this browser on the Mac has been discontinued, and it's no longer available at Mactopia, VersionTracker and MacUpdate. As for Netscape, that's the only option available to me, and thankfully, it did work.

I had this problem about 2 weeks ago when I needed to get a birth certificate for my son. People were suggesting Crossover or Bootcamp, but just for eCensus? I just used the PC in the office instead :)

I used Netscape 7.2 recently for eCensus. Guess I won't upgrade Netscape to 9.0b1!
