Better late then never. Finally, Apple gives us a really good reason to NOT ditch our dot Mac accounts. A number of long overdue enhancements have just been announced.

Here are the updates I've gathered:
    • 10GB of storage for Individual accounts (up from 1GB), 20GB for Family Pack, with additional 10GB storage available as an option
    • 100GB or monthly traffic (up from 25GB)
    • new .Mac Web Gallery feature (requires iPhoto '08 for photos and iMovie '08 for movies)
    • members can publish their iWeb sites to their own domain (requires iWeb '08)
    • server side spam filtering for .Mac mail
    • 20MB attachment size limit for inbound and outbound .Mac mail (up from 10MB)

    is there anything I've missed?

I can't wait to try it out with iLife '08. Thank you, Apple!

Server side spam filtering is the biggest improvement for me. Checking my .Mac email on my E61 is a pain when you have to download 10 pieces of junk mail just to get the one email you really need.

Same here! To think I got my subscription renewal at a discounted price, it's now even more "sulit"! :p Seeing the 10GB icon in the .mac homepage was more than enough to make me pump my fist in the air, hahaha...

Got an email from Apple yesterday that they will upgrade the storage space of .mac to 10GB by August 14. To my surprise this morning, they've given me 6.71GB already! Now I really need to upload more pics there. Have a backlog of 7 months.

How will you guys get your future iLife '08 (and dot mac)? :) Can you buy it as downloadable or have to get one as a box (from any Apple certified stores)? This is my first year as a mac user so I'm a noob with how to upgrade Apple apps. I'm used to just getting the registration keys thru email and download the installation image from publishers.

My first app that I purchased is Aperture...everything else is still freeware/donation-ware.

I've pre-ordered iLife '08. Now I am just waiting for my dot Mac Family Pack license and I'm off to Neverland hehehe.

I had them both shipped to my brother in the US and he will take care of the rest. For dot Mac, you can ask a seller in eBay if they are willing to send the activation code to you via email. Most of them actually agree. Same thing with iLife '08 I guess?

Well, for .mac accounts, all you really need is the activation code. When you buy the retail pack/box, all that you'll find inside is a reference guide and your activation code. Just enter it to activate your 1-year subscription. If you want to do away with the boxes, an alternative would be to just pay for your subscription online in the .mac website. You can also set it to auto-renew if you want.

For iLife, I usually buy the retail box/pack.

For iWork'08, I believe you now have the option to either simply buy the activation code online (to remove the 30-day limit on the trial version) or order the retail pack (CD + activation code + printed manuals).
